The perilune is closest to my heart
on a cruel night
when the morphine saints
collect my father.

Deceptive modesty is not his style.
He is clear as a blaze of fire
without argument over property.

From the salient cult of dead
and forbidden shadows...

__he does not answer questions:

_____Is the light of heaven perfumed
_____or do winged creatures sing
_____the sanctus with exclamation?

_____Does one admire the rising sun
_____from the platform of a cloud?

Pathology is his first love.
If for no other reason than
to provoke.

He is not to be reduced
into a sarcophagus of red metaphor
or a solitary disciple.

Carve the word "nomad"
or wandering ghost in bardo
between heaven and hell
on his tombstone.

His life is an odd oneness,
where a soul is both destroyed,
and saved all at once.

This is fantastic RareForm, probably the best I've seen from you!

Such unexpected, illuminating phrasing (you obviously like to collect rare words as if they're carved figurines), and such a full-bodied and full-minded character you've painted...

I've certainly known fathers like this, though not my own.

Wow, i havent read a poem from you in a long time, i thought id stop back in and was amazed at your clever imagery. You cut swaths into my mind with this eerily haunting metaphor that seemed to resinate with in me, giving me chills.

My own mother was met by the morphine saints

I echo that sentiment :)

Reading some of your other more recent pieces, the writing somehow seems forced, but not this one It flows perfectly. The structure is great and the choice of language is superb.
