I've been using the sleep med zaleplon (Sonata) to get high rather than help me sleep. It doesn't actually put me to sleep if I take it in the daytime.

I would actually like to do this less often and use less of it. I'm not trying to get higher.

One problem is that the high is very very short and is followed by depression. This encourages me to take more, which helps temporarily, then leads to even further increased depression. My doc prescribed 20 mg/day and some days I have taken 80 mg over the span of 8 hours. I don't even know if this is safe. It certainly leads to massive depression a few hours after the last dose. It's brutal.

Anything that would make the high longer and more gentle would help me decrease the amount. Anything that reduces the following depression would help me use less.

Right now I tend to fill my script for 30 days, then use it all up in 10 days, which are day of being a mix of being high for short periods followed by hellish depression (the fact I continue to do this shows pretty irrational addictive behavior) and then I'm almost relieved when I use it all up because I don't have to go through these ups and downs for the next 20 days, but unfortunately the addict in me fills it again and goes through the whole process all over.
