As some of you may have noticed College & University was renamed to Education & Careers. In keeping the forum here, we've also expanded discussion to include career related things, as well as the original college & university discussion.

So...since the forum is being re-vamped, we'd like your input.

Are there more topics that should/could be discussed? Are the forum guidelines accurate now that we've broadened the focus of the forum? Should some topics be moved here or elsewhere? Suggestions? Concerns? Comments?

I think it's more focused on college, but I'm all for that. I'm thankful for all of the awesome advice I've gotten from that forum. Also, if I didn't know better, I'd think Kyk was my later ego. =D

I'd like to see more career oriented questions. I've noticed that people have asked career questions but it's been in other forums. Maybe people don't know that the forum for careers is available?

I love the forum overall. Thanks admin/mod dudes for keeping it open! It has helped me tremendously with my own college goals.

I think it is a very well thought out and intelligent decision.

It just seem to like a perfect fit. Kudos on the results of some wellworthwhile brainstorming.

Keep up the great work!:)

We're a small cast, but I really like the people who contribute to this forum. (Hi <3) Bluelight's ability to switch gears and stay relevant is what keeps me here.

Thank you for keeping this forum open, and for keeping the site so dynamic.

welllll, I didn't even know those were there!

I had often thought of writing something up to help people know what to do to get started since I've had to learn everything the hard way.

All the bullshit for stepping into college (like my collegiate way of putting that? LOL). Like, what to expect, fees, financial aid, grades, getting into grad school, choosing a major, tests needed for grad schools. Things like that. It's probably useless for younger people, but for us old folks who decided to go back to college it might be useful to know.

Agreed. :) If you want to whip something up, let me know. :)

Though I think younger students could benefit, as well.

I have extensive experience with the system here in Canada if you'd like a Canada FAQ drawn up.

Just off the top of my head...

Application Process

Financial Aid

Counselling

Orientation

Housing

What to expect

Degree of difficulty

This would be aimed more toward those entering College or undergraduate University. It's too bad I didn't live in the US or I could collaborate with Lysis and do the bottom half. As it stands, with Canada being so highly subsidized, everything is different.

Kyk, want to collaborate? You can stretch your writing experience. ;)

We can cover Canadian+American college systems.

If anyone would like to contribute to Australian/UK systems let me know. I'll get something together with all of us contributing.

I cannot start at this point, but Kyk, if you'd like to get started, that would be cool. We could put together a pretty good guide.

Alright, Lysis and I have spoken and we're set to get the ball rolling.

I'll draw an outline up this week, focusing on some of the more salient aspects. We should be able to get a good chunk of this done.

/cracks knuckles ;)

Update: I'm just about done my research. Sorry for the delay, but I had to do a lot of sourcing and it's a pain in the ass.

I just have to put it together. Bear with me. :)

I can put together a framework of information for Australian systems... it'll take a while as I don't have uber amounts of free time at the moment, but it will be a fantastic and very useful resource :)

CB :)
