Your first time injecting - context

So when I inject, I actually don't inject myself. A friend who used to be a nurse does me, and he's quite good at it. I've not really had an inclination to learn how to inject, but lately he's been unavailable to get together so the time has come (as I inevitably thought) that I might have to learn to inject myself.

So I was keen to hear about others' experiences of the first time they injected themselves. If you didnt injected yourself the first time you IVed drugs, at what stage did you take the steps to do yourself? How did you learn to inject yourself? Do you regret it? Anything you wished you had have known when you first did yourself that you know now?

Well, I had a needle with a little bit of ketamine left...so I grabbed a GBA connector cable, tied off my arm, and experienced a weak high.
 
The first time I tried Heroin I injected it. And did it myself as well with a make shift rig I fashioned from a disposible epinephrine shot and an oral syringe. The needle was meant for IM injection and was quite a ridiculous in size. Despite all that I knew how to hit a vien and shit because I would always watch the nurses and doctors when I was either visting the hospital or getting my checkup. My problem was knowing where the viens were though. That was a fine fucking night though, lotta holes but a fine fucking night when I poked the right spot.
 
Yeah, I had that issue with figuring out where to inject, too. I think I accidentally hit about 4 areas next to the vein before actually getting inside.
 
Um , New, you DO know that IVing ketamine is not a good idea. Its designed to be administered via IM injection.
 
you do know that stuff that can be imed is uaually 100 oercent safe for iv when it comes to opiates and k that is anyways.... k is perfectly fine to iv its just a intense buzz not for someone who isnt expecting the effects.
 
I kind of just tought myself after someone did it for me one day. It really isn't that hard, you just need to find a vein you can reach easily, and then make sure you register and all.
 
Some boys stole a crash cart from the hospital, and I sat there, digging through it until I found some 1000:1 Adrenaline and a 10cc syringe.....Hehe, I tried muscle shots and straight IV, muscle shots were fuck, i liked the feeling of the liquid hitting muscle then being absorbed :D, I dont like the whole IV bottem of your toes to the tip of your skull high though, I watched my dad do it before so i knew what to do....Do I regret it? haha, no, fuck, It saved my kickboxing career :P do a little squirt of that shit and you can lift a car
 
I learned it all on my own pretty much, and I got into it completely willingly, out of simple curiosity. I started with Ketamine since it is safe and pure. Missed 3 out of ever 5 shots or so. Used the "stabbing" method (holding the syringe down in a fist and using the thumb to manipulate the plunger). Then I went through a short period injecting coke, which seems to REALLY hone injecting skills - probably due to its increasing concentration and hand-eye coordination, and obviously for the reward. By the time I was done with coke I was able to hold the needle like a pencil (using the index finger to manipulate the plunger) and rarely ever missed.

I never used a tourniquette. I find it makes things even more difficult - its almost impossible to remove without causing the needle to miss, but that could be because my arm is skinny and rather loose ;)

Since then, I've been occasionally IVing mostly Ketamine and some different things, the best of which is undoubtedly speedballs.

I haven't IVed anything in a year, though.

But that shit was guaranteed 100% pure.
 
ive only injected myself about half a dozen times, every time is fukin chaos, totally butcher myself, i just leave it to my friend now.
 
Btw, Ketamine is not "designed" to be taken in any particular way. If you are familiar with Ketamine's effects and you know your dose, IV is perfectly fine as long as you don't over-shoot the dosage.
 
id been done up twice before, by seperate people before i thought id be able to hone in on it myself.

scene - side of the road at night after scoring some speed, in the middle of nowhere. only my interior light for vision.

nearly made the mistake of just pouring an unknown amount of water into the baggy, before i realise i had to measure that shit up in the needle first.

i have pretty profound veins on either arm, more so my left which makes it real easy being a right handed person, and plenty of them. so after quite a few stabs and misses on a few of the veins i finally hit the fat one in the crook of me elbow, registered and pushed that fucker down.

i was so fucking nervous i almost missed the high haha. it all went pretty smooth after this though. practice makes perfect.

What i wished i'd have known/realised?

How as soon as you can do yourself, it is a slippery slope, where every shot can be justified no matter what. Whereas before there are boundaries in that you need to get someone else to do it, you can do yourself as much as you like, and no one is necessarily the wiser.

Anyway, you are a big boy, and i am sure you will do as you please. But from someone who did learn to do it themselves...

DON'T.
 
^ I've pretty much decided I wont try it myself, purely for the reasons you've mentioned, which have been why I haven't learnt till now. I think I like having that boundary up, keeps me sane :)
 
on my 21st birthday a friend of mine said happy birthday and threw me a brown glass bottle. I caught it and looked to see it was 100mgs of injectable morphine. i had never shot anything before IV, i had let this friend give me IM shots before of morphine and demerol. So here i had this bottle....i was already addicted to opiates, namely oxy, so i said fuck it..

went to CVS got a pack of spikes went back to my appt got online looked on BL how to safely give a shot, and i went to town haha...
here i am almost 4 years later on suboxone, been through a bunch of rehabs, drug treatment, and withdrawls....

but i still look back fondly...i was curious, and deserved what i got.

Seconded. I had been up for about 48 hours smoking ice and decided I wanted to try it. I had a rough idea of the basic principles and taught myself; but I wasn't pulling the tie until after I had dropped the plunger so my initial IV experiences didn't rush too hard and left big lumps. Within a couple days I had gotten in down right and about 7 weeks later I was in treatment. Been 6 weeks since my last IV binge and I'm hoping to stay away from them for a long while...
 
The first time I ever hit myself it was in my neck. The second was in my foot. I was trying to be discreet. I've always been really good at hitting myself and others. I like to say I could hit a fucking whale if I needed to (through all the blubber in case you don't get the analogy).
 
i don't understand how to get needles. are they just sold over the counter at a drug store? sorry - i don't hang out with any drug users, i am the only one and my friends and family dont know about my addiction. can anyone help me out with this? i'm in canada by the way.
