'We lose ourselves in things we love. We find ourselves there, too."

That a good one. He should have gone into politics

“The amazing thing is that every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements - the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution - weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way they could get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode. So, forget Jesus. The stars died so that you could be here today.”

I'm more likely to forget my eyeballs.

That perspective is v poetic Dan. I take it you don't believe in spirit as well as matter? A first cause? Cause and effect? Reap what you sow..karma?
Kafka said we are mind experiencing itself in matter. That kinda resonates with me but I see the self as a relationship of Spirit and Spirit acting through creation ideally.

1cor 13...

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I don't always walk like this but to the extent that I do I know the spirit works.

“When I was growing up I always wanted to be someone. Now I realize I should have been more specific.”

They wanted to have a good time, but they were like children playing in the street; they could see one after another of them being killed--run over, maimed, destroyed--but they continued to play anyhow.

“The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing.” — Blaise Pascal

^ Yes, indeed.

“No. Don't give up hope just yet. It's the last thing to go. When you have lost hope, you have lost everything. And when you think all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope.”
