Nope, not the gherkin.

Although you just reminded me of another building I love that's right near the gherkin.

London City Hall:

City Hall is the headquarters of the Greater London Authority and the Mayor of London. It stands on the south bank of the River Thames near Tower Bridge. Designed by Norman Foster, it opened in July 2002.







In fact, I love that whole stretch that leads from Tower Bridge to London Bridge. When I have time I like to walk along that way on my way to work. It's so peaceful in the mornings. Until quite recently they had these huge guitars outside the building which had all sorts of crazy designs on them. It was so cool. %)

Christ Church Greyfriars:

It's incredibly eerie when you look up and all you can see through the window frames is the blanket of night sky.

Christ Church Greyfriars, also known as Christ Church Newgate, was an Anglican church located on Newgate Street, opposite St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London. Built first in the gothic style, then in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren, it ranked among the City's most notable pieces of architecture and places of worship. The church was destroyed in the Second World War; the ruins are now a public garden.

this is the Don CeSar Hotel. Built in 1928 and about one mile from my home , my neice was married there in April this year .

Built in 1928 during the Great Gatsby era, the Don was the hot spot for Lou Gehrig, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Clarence Darrow, Henry King, the Gimbles of Bloomingdales, David Brewster, V.P. of MGM and Al Capone. From World War II to 1967, it was used by the military as a hospital for injured soldiers. In 1946 the Don Cesar became the headquarters for the Veterans Administration regional office. Reopened as a luxury resort in 1973, and completely renovated in 1993 and 1994, the Don CeSar evokes the feel and flavor of Europe, with a magnificent location on one of Florida's finest beaches.

Generally speaking, I find Atlanta to be a shit town for art and architecture. Blame our traditional sense of Southern reserve and White Flight.

Palestra House:

The London Development Agency (LDA) is the Regional Development Agency for Greater London, England. It is a functional body of the Greater London Authority. Its purpose is to promote London's economy.

The LDA is based in Palestra House, a new distinctive building at 197 Blackfriars Road, Southwark, south London (across the street from Southwark tube station). The LDA Olympic Land team is based at London 2012 headquarters in Docklands.

That said, I did find Atlanta to have a heavy masonic influence, kinda like nearby Hamilton here.
