    Welcome Guest!

Young girls dies after attending a Rave in L.A.

That's the "rule" that cost this young girl her life. The vast majority of people who die on MDMA do not die from "overdosing" or dehydrating, they die from water intoxication. We need to stop spreading this misinformation.

It is definitely important to stay hydrated, dont act like staying hydrated is a bad thing. You should always hydrate, rolling or not, as its healthy for the body regardless. What people need to be informed about, is that it is very possible to over-hydrate. When I roll, I drink when I am thirsty, just like I would otherwise, and I have never run into any problems.

Never been to rave down south, but the price for ticket nowadays in the Bay Area cost like $100 at the door and $60 for presale. 15-16 years old will try and rush the door, where will they get the money? When I went to my first rave... it was $15 back in 99. Back when they had raves in Oakland CA, the price was $20 and when you bring can food, you get $5 off and every rave was 5000-6000 people every weekend. You had fights and little violence with this many people, but today youth is just different then from when I grew up. 18+ is most and stop selling alcohol. Nowadays is about making money and charging arm and leg, water $5 for bottle? Some places were they had water fountain... they would sell bottle water with no cap so you can't refill the bottle.

I completely agree!
This trend (raving) needs to become old. It is so upsetting to me that things are the way they are... The rave culture is getting so much younger, which is sad. 15 year olds, in my opinion, should not be raving. I even think I should've started later, and I started when I was 16 going on 17.[

Aint no one gunna be shuttin down big raves anythime soon. Theres wayyyyyy too much money to be made and as long as the dough is flowin and the populations growin I think it will only get bigger.

good beans, good music, and a largely growin industry. Its helped us get passed the recession havin these big raves that insomniac throws. I hope I can be a part of the industry and make some of the money its makin. shit will be mainstream for sure, Im jumpin on the train before hand cause there aint nuthin jaded old ravers from the 90s can do to stop us :p

Ive never been to a rave, to big of a crowd, and im picky on my electronica
but if a 15 year old goes to a rave shes not thinking about the music, she obviously was there to do drugs, because going to raves and getting fucked up is now cool

if i took a sip somebodys water that had E in it, id know right away hmmm why dooes this water taste like chemical shit,

the whole "somebody put E in my drink is such bullshit

but i do feel sorry for her family,

has the autopsy been preformed i would like to know the verdict

Water intoxication, sodium levels too low causing brain damage.

so she was killed by the hysteria over dehydration that the media portrayed about mdma, its the raves that are killing people! people shouldnt be dancing while on mdma,

No, people that choose to use MDMA should open up their computer and do a little research. It is very possible to die from water intoxication and low sodium levels with no MDMA involved.

yeah it is, but at the same time, alot of the time the water intoxication happens out of influence from health class, because the teachers tell you to drink water so you don't get dehydrated, they never warned us about drinking to much water

I'm not sure which health class you took, but I have always been taught that drinking too much water is unhealthy as well. Too much of anything will always cause problems.

CBS RAVE REPORt

http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6631598n

I am fucking outraged at that news report... like fucking really??? We cant get even close to a world disaster that is going on with the oil spill... but they have time to put up this negative story about dance parties... a lot of people need to step up and say something because this type of story is going to have a drastic effect nationwide.. so if you guys give a shit about having a place to spin, you better join forces and start getting organized... and what the fuck was that girl doing drinking out of someone elses water bottle??? And brain damage really?? Now she is going to die... I feel like this is a very shitty media spin... so lets see they said that concert was holding 180,000 people... how many people got hurt at woodstock??? or any metal festival??? I can say that I have been to many concerts with a capacity under 5000 and have easily seen 100 people hurt... this is bullshit.. thanks for sharing this danyelle....I will be busy hitting the message forums spreading the word... oh yeah and fuck you cbs for not telling me what is going on the in gulf.. I mean whats really going on ... fuckin assholes..this story is going to really hurt any future chances of big parties..
Thanks for reading

We've been discussing this situation on ED, if you're curious (not this particular report, though):

Young girls dies after attending a Rave in L.A.

I understand that the "water bottle" thing is a myth invented by the media to displace blame onto the scene rather than her personal choices. Anecdotal reports from her friends seem to indicate that she died from hyponatremia (i.e. "water intoxication") rather than an overdose.

Anyhow, this is nothing new. Raves are easy targets for fearmongerers, always have been. You can't stop people from partying forever -- they'll find other ways to get it done. We may see a resurgence of epic house parties, though. :)

I hope we do.. those times were when the scene seem to be at its best... sound wasnt always great, but the vibes were legendary enough to keep us chasing after those days...

Kind of makes you afraid that some of it might just be the phantoms of youth still haunting your expectations, huh? 8) But I do know what you mean (to some extent...I'm not much of an oldbie in the scene...)

I'm no longer an acting ED mod (waiting for them to nominate someone else to fill my position), but I don't think they'd mind. :) Thank you for asking in any case.

wow....what bullshit...I wonder if they count skinned knees among the 226 injured...and anyways, one death out of 186,000? and when was the last time you saw lots of coke at a party? people dont dance on coke, they stay in the bathrooms and gibber to themselves....and i used to think CBS was fairer than the other news organizations...instead this is blatant yellow journalism

The scene will continue. Back to the desert and forest. was better anyways. Real raving, raw. Edc blew raving to the mainstream and now we suffer mainsteam repercussions. 06 @ at the ranch now that is more of what we need!!! The cops dnt. The cops dnt tho so i bet once it settles it goez away. Kinda is already.

Im not quite sure what the OP is upset about.

Its just a fairly standard report into problems that occurred at a massive rave.

I think its good that they make people aware of the dangers.

Reporting that someone got brain damage from drinking ecstasy from a water bottle is probably far fetched but then again ecstasy is a name that could refer to pretty much anything.

Anyways its not really ED related but i will add it to the girl dies thread.
