You might be a degenerate gambler if... You gamble away some money you've borrowed.

You won't accept that your countries horse racing is not profitable to play anymore due to a plethora of factors but still continue to do your balls each time you see money come for a horse.

You cancel arrangements with friends to stay in a dingy shit hole of a bookie betting all day.

You gamble money you need for essential medication and lose.

And if if all of the above resulted in winning they'd all be okay in your eyes.

Doubt this thread will take off, but it's nice to vent the terrible form i been having.
 
You can go from $50 to $600 in blackjack in half an hour and keep going until you are broke instead of heading back to the poker table or better yet home.
 
Alabama needs gambling really bad. My family drove 100 miles to Georgia for lottery tickets the other day. Damn bible thumping fucks

I have often fantasized about being a bookmaker. cos i like seeing people lose sometimes and i like to gamble and like things gambling related TTYTT.

You might be a degen if you bet half of your freshly made (spun up from like 30 usd's) online sportsbook roll on an over 2.5 bet, it comes in (the bet wins) in the first 36 mins and you don't feel completely satisfied with the win (but you still get that good feel tho, which is always a good sign, NOT SHOWING ANY SATISFACTIOn, or feeling ANY DOPAMINE from winning respectable sized bets almost always signifies either you are TILTING or just plain old PROBLEM GAMBLN) but wish you bet more - everything in your sportsbetting acocunt rather - this happened this eve. But I'd say this is better (less degenny) than few weeks ago me, few weeks ago me would have prob been pretty upset he didnt have every bit of liquid cash he had on it COS IT WON and not satisfied AT ALL with wins that weren't gone all out to get.

You just gotta keep yourself in check if u have degenerate signs. You think it won't happen to you... But if you have been addicted to drugs, truth is it probably can. You play with fire you will get burn't if your not careful.

Read through a bit of that, I don't near reach that level of degeneracy probably because I'm not fucking about with those sorts of monies , but probably would end up like that.

Couple of times come to mind for me, first was about this time last year, got first pay check after Christmas and was a decent one(in comparison) so deposited but extra into online acct, couple hundred pounds maybe, rolled it up to 1800 on horses and nba in a week or so, then took out a few hundred to go to the casino after work one day, at least double my money at first, just roulette at first then some poker, maybe more. after many drinks decide to go find a cheap whore somewhere. All well and good but is now too late to get home, still a few hours till the next train, so of course go back to the casino and within a couple hours lose all the winnings plus my stake money plus another 300 or so from the bank. Over the next few days the rest of the 1800 is all gone placing bets well above what my bankroll should dictate and then some. Instead of a nice holiday (or clear some debts..but who does that) I lose al the winnings and most of my pay for the month, fun times had by all.

Couple months later hit a nice winner on the grand national at aintree, many clouds at 40-1 , 15 e/w so pull in around 900, go crazy watching it while at work in the middle of the resteraunt on my phone by the dumb waiter, proceed to go buy a bunch of Coke on my break, spend the rest of service drinking and doing that behind the bar then lose everything else betting while not sound of mind later that same night, starting with some terribly played poker and probably then tennis or something to try and claw it back

I was 1k usd up on fri, bought a lot 4 grams of almos raw H (from my most expensive connect) and blew the rest on races I didn't know and soccer games I didn't know either. I just wanted action any action. And I foolishly assumed the heater would continue.
Next time I have a heater like that I'm gonna walk with a set target amount. I kept moving the goal posts last weeks.
Anyway, I'm having to work extra shifts now to get through the month so yeah last week and the weekends degeneracy hurt.
Am finally ready to stop tryna to coax another heater out of thin air.
Will happen next when it happens next. And I'll try remember what I did wrong this time.

You might be a degen if you see you're horse break clear in the back and final styretch suffer a horrific fall that will likely result in the euthanasia of the poor animal and serious injury to the jockey and all you think about is the money you lost cos of the fall.

Was gonna go balls out on broncos but I picked the over 2.5 on some obscure soccer team cos it was starting sooner than the broncos game in typical, tilting degen fashion.
Missed by one goal, was a very frustrating game and has put a permanent chip on my shoulder regarding portuguese soccer.
 
To be honest and i am not proud of this i can only really get into watching sport if i have money riding on the outcome.

I also can't remember the last time i had a beer at a venue that's didn't have poker/slot machines
 
I can't enjoy sports without money on it either. And I'm also ashamed of that. But on the upshot it doesn't have to be a lot of money as long as there is some on it. Just gotta control my tilting urges and money management. Have been my undoing as of late.
You might be a degen if you get schadenfreude hearing about a dude you know who has a family and only had 40 usd left on like the 15th of the month cos of gambling. Takes said 40 usd to the casino. Spins it up to 2500$ usd , leaves at the crack of dawn with nothing.
That the best LOCAL degen story i've heard.
 
When you do everything in your betting account on 2nd favourite to win a french horse and carriage(harness race) race you know nothing about and can't watch anywhere on tilt (just spent the last 15 mins refreshing a french results page and beating myself up for making such a fkin stupid bet).

it turns out I won said bet!!!! so I guess the bet was shear skill, knowledge and well-timed aggression right guys !!?!?!?!
 
when you put some bets on some horses on an online betting site that has a very shitty interface for betting on horses
and you turn on the OTB horse racing channel (here in NY we have a channel that is not quite but damn close to 24/7 races) to watch the race
and you get super psyched because your horse is killing it
then you go back to said online racebook with shitty interface
find out that you were betting on a completely different race
 
We have a horse racing channel here too Tellytrack it's called, but it's like 12 hours a day (live racing , the rest are reruns and betting/racing shows).

You might be a degen if you do all the money that just cleared in you bank from a bookie payout out a day ago in under 30 mins on irish racing where you don't know anything about ONE jockey, trainer or owner - dat instant gratification mane, sometimes when I'm tilting I gotsta have it.
Also your a degen if place bets on your phone and listen to Tellytrack radio app on your phone and shouting on horses all while driving a stick shift on a long errand.
 
You might be a degen if you feel like sending your online bookie proof of wins from your real life/not online bookies to let them know u not down as much as they maybe think you are .
As much as I may feel like it , I wouldn't actually do it, the beauty of playing with both live and online bookies is it takes much longer for them to start limiting you when you are actually betting sensibly and winning.
 
Might be a degen since I just downloaded 863 megabytes of raw baseball data and am getting started working with statistics software to perform a regression analysis on in order to find characteristics of batting lineups and pitchers which lead to higher run differentials and total numbers of runs so as to see if I can get an additional statistical edge in betting the run line and O/Us.
