rainy days
nightmares
I awoke in your arms
with you
kissing my fingertips
and letting my tears
run
straight down
your cheeks too
still feeling your fingers
in the tangles of my
unbrushed hair
as my neck perspired
and my body shook
bringing me back
to the bed
we both laid in
where you said
if jealousy was edible
you would be full
watching the wind run across my arms
and the sunlight heating my back
from miles away
you can't even see the tiny
wrinkles around my mouth
when I smile
not that I've been doing any of that
since you left
instead I hold my breath
waiting........
for the phone to ring
but it never will
you have gone

the hardest part about missing someone, is remembering the closeness. i think when i look back on my current significant other, after he moves to florida in october, the first thing i will remember, and miss, is all those mornings i woke up in his arms... and couldn't imagine anything more perfect.
