You guy's are freaking me about SSRI's!

BOTTOMBUM Without them I would be dead.[/QUOTE said:
i hear so many people say stuff like that. and if you think that way, you probably would be.

you need to completly change your mindset, which, by the way, is a much more powerful tool in beating your problem.

in order to be happy, you must remove the things that are making you unhappy. there is a start. if your doctor never gave you a timeline to get off any drug, get rid of the doctor.

psychiatry is nothing but a psuedo science based around drug dealing.

read "the truth about american drug companies" by marcie angel. spot on the mark.

those who consider this propaganda are paranoid.

If they work for you then thats all that matters.

lets see 20 years down the track. when you look in the mirror and see that you have aged 20 years more. or look like a parody of yourself.

thats sad. thats the end result of these drugs. just like any other drug. it takes its toll.

Christ, I really dislike people like you, and that whole view. Some people have actual conditions that can't be fixed by a 'change of mind'. Chemical imbalances that, if they do not take responsibility for, fuck up their lives and people around them. Are there FAR too many people medicated than need to be, and medicated for longer than they need to be, and not getting the therapy that would benefit them better? Absolutely. But for some people it is a true necessity - I grew up with a mother who suffers schizophrenia and bipolar II, and the medication makes so much difference in allowing her to live a stable, happy life, and to allow the people around her to do the same. It takes more than a 'positive attitude' to make her stop hearing voices. It sucks, but it's true.

If people want to believe that themselves, that's fine. But everyone I hear spouting that opinion is so fucking smug, condescending and arrogant about it, like everyone else is so stupid for not sharing their view, and they couldn't possibly be wrong. That's the attitude that leads to the prejudice against the mentally ill that makes it so difficult for them in the first place, because even if they're trying their best they're viewed as 'weak' by people who are just lucky enough not to have been born with brain chemistry that goes on the fritz.

SSRI saved my life and ruined my life at the sdame time butt,,,,as Eddie Vedder says I still AAAAAAALLLLivvvveeeee. alive

there are very few people with true schizophrenia. if i come across as smug, you should be aware that the money that is thrown at doctors these days by pharm companies is way, way past bordering on the obscene.

one example i will give you... a doctor was given an all expenses paid golf trip to japan, expressly to change pharm companies. it rang out to the tune of over $60,000 for 2 weeks. that stuff has got to stop.

we have kids being scripted dangerous amphetamines solely because of this. that is going to ruin mot just one generation but probaly another and another after that. medication "black" labelled sighting side affects like; depression arythmia, stroke... not to mention what it does to a growing brain.

i think that there would be a lot less people on this poison if the money side of things was reined in. that is simply nothing more than a drug gang giving you rewards for selling dope.

Fuck I'm sorry I asked. You guys didn't need to fight over it. I am a perfectly normal functioning human being on paxtine, off it I'm not. Yes it was horriffic to start with, ( the first couple of weeks). I believe these should only be taken as a last resort. When you have two choices to live or die, the side effects don't even matter. The only time I feel fucked up is when I go up or down in the doses. I have felt all the side effects even the "shock things", they even happen when you fuck with the dose. Thanks to all the people who were helpful, to those who weren't, I hope that these meds never become your last resort. I was actually more worried about the long term effects, I don't want to become brain damaged.

No fight just typical BL discussion ;)

If they work for you stick with them. I'm not medically trained so have no idea if long term dependance on such meds could be damaging but if I had to have a stab in the dark I'd say "probably" for some ... not unlike many meds TBH.

Come back in 10 years maybe then the medical establishment will have researched enough and have some conclusive proof but for the moment they are far too new. You're a Lab Rat like the rest of us :)

So? There's still people who HAVE true schizophrenia, and I know several, and I have experienced first hand the difference that medication makes to their lives and the people around them.

I don't argue that far too many people are medicated who don't need to be - it's one of the things that I talk about a lot, and I think have talked about in this thread even. There's a lot of people who need decent therapy - a 'change of view' - or guidance rather than medication. But sometimes it IS necessary, so don't just throw out blanket, "No one needs to be on medication, and if they are on any for more than a few months they're doing something wrong," statements. It's harmful.

I think the OP will know now not to ask for actual help on bluelight

tell me about it... should have known not to ask people who are 1; on psych meds and 2; obviously a bit jaded through illicit drug use...:\

i just find it a bit weird how people make a stand against labs using animals to experiment but quite happily allow themselves to be rats...:\

that is an excellent book. another side to the eugenics theory. governments just want these people held down. i wish eveerybody could realise just how much pull these pharm companies have.

at the moment, they entirly control governments. and the methamphetamine trade.

^at last... someone who isnt a "sheep". would you honestly take medicine without first doing some research on it ? would a real doctor expect you not to ?

of course not. that thread entitled "everything you wanted to know about psych meds, need to be reassesed. before another sheep gets lead up the path...

thank you for the literature leads.;)

you fucking go girl ! the mindset is the most powerful tool you can use, even for shizophrenia. i hooked on to a fantastic g.p. 2 years ago and have gone leaps and bounds since.

you are an example to all.

best of it to the future...;)

We should be ashamed of a lot of things. Which makes me horribly depressed :( And hate people :( This is the only place I can say even half of what I think without being crucified.

I still have like a bottle of paxils just sitting there.. .I'm just dont wanna risk losing my creative abilities and stronger emotions, even temporarily. I think the whole societal sickness is getting to me... making me think there's something wrong with me cuz I'm "not a sheep" or whatever...these thoughts can be excruciatingly complicated though. So this cognitive therapy works like a charm does it?
