Yohimbe - First Time - "no effects noticable"

Yohimbe - First Time

Age: 22
Weight: 250lbs
Ht: 5'10"
Health: Healthy
Medical Conditions: no known illnesses
medications: Once-a-day vitamins, B complex, Sam-E, and ginseng

Food intake: No food for 15 hours, taken with a little normal Tea

dosage: 3(500mg/each) caps + 1(500mg/each) Cap 1 and 1/2 hours later

11:00am - took 3 500mg caps with a glass of tea.

11:30am - no effects noticable - just sitting at the computer(heart rate normal)

12:00pm - no effects noticable - took a shower(heart rate normal)

12:30pm - no effects noticable - Took a 4th cap(500mg) Headed out of the hour for the bus stop to goto work(heart rate normal)

1:00pm - No effects noticable - Got on the bus(heart increased normal after long walk)

1:30pm - no effects noticable - On bus going to work (heart rate normal)

Actually it goes on like that up til now, just my regular day.

Special considerations - The pills had "expired" Apr 2003, but the person I bought them from assured me personally that despite expiration they where still effective. The bottle also said to take with food, which I did not, assuming like most ingested drugs, it works better without food on the stomach.(which may be why nothing happen)



Other than that I am lost. No idea why it didn't work at all, any ideas?

I've worked with both pure yohimbine hcl, and some herbal pills I got at a healthfood store that had 8mg of yohimbine per pill (according to the label.) I found the herbal form (which has other alkaloids) more interesting. Both were very stimulating, and mildly psychedelic at the 8mg to 10mg level.

Also went nice with LSD. Took it about two hours in the trip and it added an "earthy" feeling to it, but who knows how much my internal biases colored the experience.

I don't like stimulants, so I'd never take the dose higher than 10mg to see how trippy things could get. And again, I did find the whole herb more interesting, as opposed to isolated yohimbine hcl, as far as the mental effects. Both were equally stimulating however. And I never noticed any particular aphrodiasic effects with either that the herb has long been associated with.

I have no idea why it didn't work for you. Some obvious ideas would be that you didn not take enough, or the material itself was expired or degraded.

I am also thinking that perhaps the pills dont have as much in them as they claim. It says 500mg per pill and I took 2000mg worth. I figure SOMETHING should have happen. I am going to cautiously up the dose until I feel something. I got alot of it for cheep, so I'll play around and see what happens.

So I did it again today:
6 caps(appox~3000mg)

Nothing, nadda, nope, none, nothing happening
I think they are dead pills. I have 3 bottle, I am going to test the other two, then hang up my gloves

Yes-
The brand I use is easily found on several websites:
Yohimbe Plus
(it contains 1000mg Yohimbe bark powder and ginseng and other similar ingredients)
Generally speaking, I can take them for fairly reliable results:
1 pill: I'll be horny in 2-4 hours. I know "horny" isn't the most scientific sounding approaching, but that's what it is.
2 pills: I'll be horny, probably a bit sooner. I'll also notice slight warm flashes.
3 pills: As above, but the warmth comes in waves that I can feel rolling over my body. It's like having a slight fever, my heart rate is noticeably higher (but not frighteningly so) and I tend to feel 'on alert'. I've done this twice in a performance where I had to play a very aggressive character, and it helped me feel it.

I've no interest in going any higher.
 
Anyone else notice the mild psychedelic nature of yohimbe? It's subtle, but real. I'm not alone, many reports on yohimbe/yohimbine mention perceptual alterations and distortion of body-image. Plus those I have shared it with also noted it.
 
yes, when i had a yohimbine script, i definitely noticed a very subtle but distinct alteration of perception.. particularly if i was above the recommended dosage.. edges of things seemed more defined and colors had sort of a metallic sheen about them.. don't know if that makes any sense.. anyways, yohimbine by itself put me in a good mood, but in combination with *anything* else put me in a foul mood or made me sick (maybe because it's suspected to be a maoi)..
 
It is a very mild MAO inhibitror. Although I founfd that it added an interesting space to LSD, yohimbine has been tested and will not allow DMT to become orally acitve.
 
Thought it was a Soma

Jeez! I accidentally took one of the rx Yohimbe pills mistaking it for a Soma and settled in to sleep.

It didn't take long to realize my mistake! I was wired, hot (not in a good way) my skin was itching. Anxiety, heart pounding and salivating!

It sucked ass! and scared my husband to death!

Took about 6 hours for me to start feeling ok.

I got this pill from my dad thinking it might work as a stimulant when I really needed something, then forgot about it. I hope to God he doesn't take then or he will have a freaking heart attack rather than a hard on!
