I was thinking more of a PM not a public shot out on the thread- and not to preclude anyone just another route for finding the sort of folk needed.

I agree with Allein here.

Also it may put presdure on people if they were asked. Some people are not always so assertive n may say yes when really they mean no. If people appy themselves then at least it comes from them.

In the same way that I'd prefer a part-time job than a full-time one, I'd be much keener on modding here knowing that less work was required because there were plenty of active mods.. so I definitely think 5 mods is a good plan.

if more mods = less actual work, why not get 6?

im joking of course. i know that a lot of stuff could be made easier for the mods if people would just use that damn report button instead of whining ...
 
You know, I'd only used the report button once in the past 5 years until I became a mod. I'm sure a lot of people don't even know it exists.
 
I think i used it twice. maybe.
im sure others have flagged me down though. i dont mind. if it s for the better good, that is...
maybe if that report button came with something extra. like a sneak peek at the nudie thread... then more would use it! ;) (or less...)

or design it differently. like say a penis. or a vagina. give it purpose. or meaning. like a penis!

Why do people mention trolls? There aren't any trolls in here, and if there are they don't deserve to be called trolls. Its a good thing, and its good that there isn't, but Its almost like the term troll in here is saying something certain certain posters don't agree with.

FINALLY some bloody sense! I have been trolled for the past two
Years to the point of stalking n watching me constantly here *waves * people here really ought to read up on trolls seriously.

Trolls are people who go to a forum with the sole intention of causing as much destruction as possible n don 't give a damn who they hurt. They use "it's only the Internet" as an excuse to deliberately abuse individual(s) n destroy communities. They get a kick out of it. Most of them aint to be banned as some kind of badge of humour.

And they are attention seekers. The more attention you give them the more they thrive - like a leeach sucking blood out of someone. They get pleasure out of it. And what's maddening is that whole communicate react / give them the attention the thrive for.

If everyone within a given community ignore a troll(s) they get bored since they're not getting a reaction from their victims.

I've been on chat / forums etc since Thursday 5 March 1998 at 12:55 pm. I've seen my fair share of trolls absolutely damage communities that were once thriving, supportive, lovely places - all because they had no moderators like BL has.

Because of the work that the staff do here (to my knowledge, as a member) I don 't see many trolls here n be thankful for the work of the staff here. I wish people would not be so quick to call people trolls for reasons I've mentioned in this post.

while we have a standardised process for recruiting moderators, there's much room in it for discretion. there's nothing to stop forum staff nudging people they think would be a good fit to apply.

there are a number of reasons why having an open call for nominations is desirable:

- it gives the opportunity for anyone to apply and avoids (accusations of) overt exclusivity

- it very often (though not always) throws up unexpectedly viable candidates from left field

You're a bit harsh on Raas at times, OTW. I actually think he'd make an ace mod. He cares about people in EADD n about this forum. I know he was a bit silly over the pic but that's past now isn't it?! Let's all move on.

Oooops. I've just complimented Raasy again. He's going to kill me lol. Sowwwwy :)

I can't speak for Marmz. I judged her when i lurked before joining - but I had her wrong n she seems nice enough. She doesn't appear like she memberates - just like she cares for EADD n vocalises her feelings - as is the case for all of us.

You do have a way with words though which gives me a giggle :)

Raas only cares about himself. You don't notices marmalades memborating because she usually reports 20 posts a day crying. "Won't someone think of the children" yet never puts her hand up to actually mod the place.

Reality is you shouldn't need more than two mods to clean up a handful of posts that some idiot is incriminating themselves with drug related matters. This place should be adults talking shit, nothing that needs censoring or moderating as such.

There is a lot of talk about "trolls" (what ever that is) when reality is, if people just accepted everyone else's opinions despite being different to their own, there would be very little work needed to be done.

Instead you get every second person being offended, and crying to a mod to fix their butt hurt. Get over it. If you are strung out on drugs, chances are you are being over sensitive and should suck it up or find some where else to blog your pathetic lives. If someone uses a naughty word or makes a sexist or racist comment who the fuck are they hurting other than their own reputation?

This isn't high school and you don't all have to agree or even like each other.
