Yep its friday!!!

That's the thing.

Mainstream music isn't always bad it's just overplayed.

Try cutting radio one, etc out of your life and if you own a TV, throw it away or sell it.
It makes it alot easier to appreciate music you'd probably dislike had it been forced on you.

I hear you but i ain't chucking away my 37" TV thats for sure . It's ok watching listening to stuff on a computer when you are alone but when i have friends round the TV is far more sociable for watching movies

Yeah, I've got a Madlib album like that. And Jehst's latest, and Percee P's I think, which is a nightmare as it's on about every fifteen seconds.

J LOve mixtapes are a fukery for that .

Brimz - 36 Chambers is timeless.

I have been a victim of Wu-tang's general unreliability when it comes to showing up for gigs but I still wouldn't call it a dodgy show. Method Man & one or two others dropped out one time when it was specifically billed as being the full team. They still tore the fucking roof off though, and not one of us was surprised that a couple of them were no shows. Every time I've seen them (no matter who has or hasn't shown up) they've killed it.

Jan - My MF Doom VV2 album is like that. "Media play only, not for duplication" every 30 seconds lol.

Yeah i've never come away really disapointed after a Wu show . N they do always kill it cos there is so much talent & energy on stage . TBH i don't think they lie on purpose on the flyers etc it's just difficult to co ordinate .

I hope they tour 36 chambers one day that would be great

Na, they don't deliberately lie but they do just drop out because they can't be fucked lol. A lot of them are notoriously unreliable, not just for gigs but for recording sessions n shit as well. Imagine how hard it must have been to get ODB in the studio on the right day at the right time?

Been listening to that MA Doom album again after recommending it to Dan. It's a fucking belter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6_t77usxHU

I came in here thinking it was the Friday thread but it appears to be Dan, PTCH and friends talking about hip hop. ;)

Jean Grae - Keep Livin - I can't remember what track this beat originally comes from but it's a belter. Another as fuck piano sample.

I just had a wee listen to that, the piano sounds like the soundtrack to an American sitcom, Cheers or something. Not bad wee tune though considering I don't like Hip Hop.

I have to be specifically informed about the latest mainstream "hit" by someone. People mentioning the shit that gets played on Radio 1 normally gets met with a blank stare from me & they're almost always incredibly shocked (or don't believe me) that I have no idea who they're talking about.

Happens to me all the time as well, people start going on about some new pop band / artist / song that's in the charts and I couldn't tell you who they are or have never knowingly heard the song, they usually think I'm taking the piss. I just don't pay any attention to it.

Back onto Friday chat....I have absolutely no plans this weekend and probably just as well as I spent a fortune last weekend and still don't know my financial situation right now. Probably go visit my dad later and drink some of his booze and possibly a few pints with mates tomorrow but don't think there's much planned.

That's good, I didn't know that album. That instrumental is on one of his Special Herbs compilations, and I'm fairly certain a variation of it's on MM... Food or MM... Leftovers or something. He's got some line somewhere about getting paid off the same beat three ways and he certainly lives by that maxim.

Off to my mate's to see a few... well.... mates! tonight and there's a high change of it becoming messy.
I'd quite like that though actually.

Everyone else have a lush one! <3

Is a B Boy the same as a Batty Boy?

The terms "b-boy" (break-boy), "b-girl" (break-girl), and "breaker" are the original terms used to describe the dancers. The original terms arose to describe the dancers who performed to DJ Kool Herc's breakbeats. DJ Kool Herc is a Jamaican-American DJ who is responsible for developing the foundational aspects of hip-hop music. The obvious connection of the term "breaking" is to the word "breakbeat", but DJ Kool Herc has commented that the term "breaking" was slang at the time for "getting excited", "acting energetically" or "causing a disturbance".[9] Most b-boying pioneers and practitioners prefer the terms "b-boy", "b-girl", and/or "breaker" when referring to these dancers. For those immersed in hip-hop culture, the term "breakdancer" may be used to disparage those who learn the dance for personal gain rather than for commitment to the culture.[2]:61 B-boy London of the New York City Breakers and filmmaker Michael Holman refer to these dancers as "breakers".[4] Frosty Freeze of the Rock Steady Crew says, "we were known as b-boys", and hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa says, "b-boys, [are] what you call break boys... or b-girls, what you call break girls."[4] In addition, co-founder of Rock Steady Crew Santiago "Jo Jo" Torres, Rock Steady Crew member Mr. Freeze, and hip-hop historian Fab 5 Freddy use the term "b-boy",[4] as do rappers Big Daddy Kane[10] and Tech N9ne.[11]

I personally use B Boy / Girl a to describe anyone with a Love Of HIp Hop music n Culture

No that's a B-Boi. ;)

Though in certain cases (not all, Brimz!) it is probably one of the most unintentionally homoerotic music scenes since heavy metal.

EDIT: As Jan demonstrates perfectly with that pic.

No idea what I'm at yet, wrecked from sniffing 2c-b last night but feeling surprisingly good and ready to go grab a carry out. :)

Opinion of this? love her voice

Yelawolf - Write Your Name
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYYp...wp7qLoKuU0unjPTA&index=560&feature=plpp_video

anyways, back on the friday thing, few drinks tonight, gonna try and keep it sensible. tomorrow night will probably be pretty messy. hopefully refraine from 6-APB this weekend... famous last words, every time i start drinking i end up on it or some other stuff

Meh, not really liking that tbh. I haven't heard much Yelawolf, I hadn't really heard of him at all until that BET cypher with Slaughterhouse & Eminem. Eminem is bananas on this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBnMc_s1_vc

Watch Joel Ortiz's face when Eminem's rapping. On his day he's definitely still got it.

Everyone is amazing on that actually, it's pretty much perfection as far as quality hip hop goes.

I think their is ?

But sometimes a gang of us B Boys just do a Jack Move on a thread n Fuk up yer Shiz

G-shit %)

That artist is a Batty Boy if you ask most real Hipi Hop fans !!

Exactly. 50 Cent can fuck off.

I'm not fond of the term 'batty boy' (as I'm sure you aren't yourself). But even I'm clued-up enough to know that Fiddy is more of a pop star than a 'b-boy'. Don't worry. ;)

Still, I maintain that there's a very strong element of The Love That Dare Not Speak Its Name in certain hip-hop subcultures.

All that stuff about hating all women but your mother and the contrast between that and the intensity of the male interpersonal relationships. Straight out of Gayville with a pink feather in its cap.
