Years of mild xanex use - how much is too much?

I typically use xanex in moderate to avoid dependency but considering challenges at this time i have taken it more frequently. Dr. Prescribes me .5mg, 2 at night and up to 3 as needed daily ( in addition to other shit but no other benzos.) Question: how much is safe to take at one time without possibilty of OD? Also, how safe is it to consume alcohol on xanex? Not like 4 mg and wasted, but is it ok to consume say 2mgs and drink? I know that benzos and alcohol attach to the same part of your brain and influence the central nervous system so i would greatly appreciate anyone advice/input on this. ---- i have used klonipin and other similiar drugs in the past and have used xanex in an "addictively" controlled maner for 8 years so i do feel i have some tolerance.

It totally depends on your tolerance level and your unique brain/body/metabolism. What is totally safe for one person can kill another, benzos by themselves are not commonly lethal, but benzos+alcohol (or other CNS depressants such as opioids) can be very dangerous. Best thing to do is start low. If you are going to drink while on Xanax start with less Xanax than usual and drinking a lot less than usual. Drinking regularly will also raise your tolerance and likelihood of physical dependence.

EDIT: Also by OD do you mean fatal overdose, or are you including taking too much where it makes you black out/pass out/lose your memory etc? Because non-lethal overdose isn't a good idea either

It's really really difficult to OD on benzos alone, first of all.

Second-'addictively controlled' sounds contradictory. What exactly do you mean by this -I can imagine but I'd rather hear from you. Benzo addiction is a bitch so be weary.

I would say to generally avoid mixing alcohol with xanax or benzos in general as it increases chances if severe respiratory depression. If you do mix, make sure to take less of both than you would if taking just one or the other. Tolerance to benzos DOES Faxtor into this... still keep intake to a minimum.

a lot if benzos are the only depressants you take, the only real danger is getting so high that you're not aware what you're doing so you do something stupid
mix with other stuff (alcohol, opiates, ghb, ...) it can get dangerous much much faster

official answer is don't do it, it can be dangerous
in reality a lot of people do mix them, low doses of both are relatively safe, high doses kill people
if you really want to try it, take half of your normal xanax dose and drink 1 beer, this should be safe and plesant enough
exactly how high can you go while staying safe depends on your tolerance to both and on your definition of safe (for example, blacking out and telling your friends that you hate them isn't what i'd consider safe, but it's better than drowning in your own vomit (the first is likely to happen much faster than the second))

yeah don't drink on xanax, i have had so many bad experiences with alcohol and benzos together. Addictively controlled doesn't make sense but that's okay lol. You could take 100mg of xanax alone and not die, you mix alcohol in there and you will die.

don't drink with xanax and you can take a shit ton of xanax without oding but you could still die from respiratory depression

I don't think you can die from a benzo OD alone but it's pretty easy to pass out from them, although the amounts at which this would happen would all depend on your tolerance - all I can recommend is not to take much more than what you're used to. As far as mixing benzos and alcohol, really try to avoid that it really is very dangerous. Even f you don't OD the chances of you blacking out and forgetting everything are pretty high. That being said no, 2mg and a drink isn't particularly dangerous but still...I'd strongly advise against it, do be careful.

Ok thanks everyone. General concensus: doc was right, xanex and alcohol dont mix. Im trying to avoid respiratory depression I just take it during the day and wonder if it's safe to drink, but I 'll have to consider alternatives.

it's xanax btw lol sry but yeah avoid alcohol. You can die from a benzo overdose, some are easier than others but most are extremely safe. You'd have to take 100s of mg of xanax or something like that.

im scripted 3 mg kpin a day im tapering from 5 right now been on fro years 4 years. Shit i once got kicked outta clinic for kpin cause i was dirty urine after that no physical wds i just had a seizure wrecked car and all shits a mess man tread lightly i think im amazig cause i went from 5mg to 3mg itd fuckin hardd!!!!!!!!!! hard as suboxone wd o ya if ne one cares im back on sub as well my psych said as i tapered down i got sick bad and i said i wont use i flew home snorted a 30 mg oxy then drove to my psyc ward place rehab out patient palace and i walked in feeling great lol after i left feeling shitty he knew right away i told him i said listen i been on shitter for 8 days i cannot do it no more lol of topic as fuck sorry
