Benzos Xanax

Glad to here all is well. Honestly, if you need something for anxiety that isn't habit forming like xanax, I would look into GABA. It is the only supplement that I've taken that legitimately reduces my anxiety. Benzos ae great if you have anxiety, but you shouldn't need them daily. I have a benzo script, but I only take it as needed which is like once a month.

L-Theanine and/or Kava are better than GABA supp.

Xanax will turn your mild anxiety in to a nightmare of panic once addicted. too short of a half life to be used for GAD, imo, more for as needed panic attacks only. Good choice getting off before addiction set in.

I was on the same dose as the OP, albeit for a longer period of time. I tapered down to .5mg/day and now just use it as needed. I tried using 5HTP in conjunction with taper and ongoing treatment. It seemed to help, be could just be a placebo. I never got into any WD symptoms with this method and Xanax has defiantly helped me a lot more than hurt me.

Read about SSRI withdrawals as well next time. You might be in for a shock, quite literally if you're talking about Effexor.

I had similar symptoms and was started on effexor which had some quite unpleasant side effects. I now just take xanax on an as needed basis and like I said it works great. I am in no way addicted or dependent on it. I think some of you are being a bit over zealous, if someone is using the drug as prescribed and for its intended use it does in fact do good. I don't disagree that it has major potential for abuse but there is no need to freak someone out that is already dealing with anxiety. Goodluck with your anxiety star, I hope you find something that works for you and you are comfortable with, anxiety/panic attacks=no fun.

if i was told i would be placed on a deserted island tomorrow and could only bring 3 things it would be food, water, and xanax..absolute miracle drug for me. i understand its not for everyone but for someone who has anxiety/panic attacks its a godsend.also dont pay any attn about folks demonizing xanax yes its addictive but ive been on it for 17 yrs. it literally gave me my life back..guess what ive had zero withdrawal symptoms .....because i have no desire to quit and am content with the understanding that i will be on them for the remainder of my life. fantastic drug! i only wish i would have found it sooner before having to file chapter 13 because of all the doctor bills associated with my illness ,with all of the misdiagnosis......sounds like you may be a bit of a hypochondriac....and after reading side effects you quit taking the drug probably right when it was doing you the most good and suffered w/d which in turn made you even more affraid of the drug..
