Xanax tolerance

Hi there! I've been prescribed xanax daily for over 6 years now. You EASILY build up a tolerance, within a week of daily use. Be careful with benzodiazepines, I ran out of my script once because of tolerance and suffered a life-threatening seizure. You CAN DIE of benzodiazepine withdrawals. Stay safe, try massage for anxiety! :-)

Sincerely,
Terri

It can take a week or maybe less for you to become tolerant, depending on your own body (everyone's body reacts different to drugs). Anyways, to create a real physical dependence, it would take 2 weeks of consecutive use. Psychologically, you could already be setting your self up for a heavy benzo addiction - because you're asking about how much do you have to use and how long... Which is basically like you're trying to "play" with xanax. Don't grab at the tigers tail, as he will eventually get you. (or something like that - but honestly, benzos are nothing to fuck/"play" with).

How much do you have to do and for how long to start to build up a tolerance?
I first tried Xanax in the summer of 2009. Just 1 - 2 mg had me feeling great, and if I wanted to be knocked out for a flight then I'd usually take 3 - 4mg.

By the summer of 2010 I was eating 300mg almost every weekend. Yes, 300mg. :o :(

Here we are in January 2015 and I'm now on 20mg Diazepam per day. During those past 5 - 6 years I've had countless near death experiences, withdrawals etc etc.. I'm sure you can try and imagine but until you've been through it.... Anyway, if you want to continue to 'Behappystayhappy' then I would advise not to go down the Xanax/Benzo route.

I know I'm an extreme example but I wouldn't wish you any of the pain myself, my family or my friends have endured.

For me it would take a couple weeks depending on how often I take it. Once every few days I could stay on the same dose for maybe months. But if I am taking it every day, after about a week I will need to up the dose. It really depends on how often and what setting you take it in. If I'm taking it at home when I have a panic attack and I take a nap right after I can do that a couple times a week for years without building tolerance. It's when I take it and try to resume with my day that I build tolerance. I take a Xanax in public and I have to fight the sedation so I get used to its effects faster.

Ive been a Benzo abuser and a bit of a collector for a few years. With a benzo tollerance its hard to say. but to be completely honest if you take it for medicinal purposes read above they are spot on. For recreational doses well thats something different. If you go out and party or get fucked up at home w/e s your poison about 4 bricks of xanax in one night will give you the tollerance of someone whos been on it twice a day for a week or so. If you abuse for several days you can get to a point where its hard to describe but basically you arent thinking you are just "doing" i got to this stage after 30 something diazepam and 3-4 bottles of wine.

Once you have a tollerance it takes anywhere from 1-3 months to disapere depending on the usage, The high tollerance is responsible for the addiction and withdrawal process since it has a 48 hour half life ( i think )

anyways i hope this helps

-Zon
