I've been on xanax for about 3 months. i started off on .25, then .5 and now ive had 6 scripts of 30 1mg and just got 3 more refills. I can take 3mg a day which I usually don't do because I share. Xanax isn't the only benzo i've been taking though, a few diazapams and clonzepams, also eitzolams. I just got my last 3 refills (i think my last anyway) and took 2mg of xanax and hardly felt anything. I'm thinking of just taking a cold turkey break so I can actually feel the effects of them. but not taking any for 2 days I was starting to get withdrawal effects. How long would i have to be off them completely for my tolerance to go back down? and how bad will withdrawal be and how long will it last? thanks.

What are you taking it for, out of interest? Benzos aren't something you wanna be using long-term, due to their horrific withdrawals. If you're already getting them, i'd advise you to start tapering off them and then discontinuing their use completely (or at least, limiting them in such a way that you're not using them regularly, and are not gonna be prone to more withdrawals)

i'm on them basiclly for panic attacks but I use them more for my social anxiety or general recreational use. if I don't take any of them completely for 3-4 days will my tolerance go down?

If you're using them for panic attacks, why have you been taking them every day instead of as you require them? You need to consider completely stopping them, abusing benzos over a long period of time is just going to deteriorate your mental status even further.

Never a truer word spoken.

Please take this advice.

6 month break, although a year is better. Benzo tolerance is a bitch, and takes a very long period of abstinence to drop significantly. There will still be a certain amount of permanent benzo tolerance, though.

You think your panic attacks and anxiety are bad now? Just wait until you're physically dependent on benzos... 8)
