Benzos Xanax taper help please

Hello,
I am prescribed Xanax 4x day at 1mg. I hardly ever take it due to the side effects. This holiday due to stress I have been taking sometimes 2mg sometimes 3 or 1 and one day 5 mg at night. Also not at the same time it is whenever I go to bed. I have done this for about 2 weeks. I also years ago took a load of Xanax over 2 days and when stopped had a seizure. I really want to get off the Xanax now that the stress is gone. How do I taper when I have been varying the dose so much to avoid seizures. Thank you for your help.
 
Figure out how much Xanax you're taking on average per day, and decrease that figure by 10 or 20% weekly. (You could get away with 20% biweekly - twice a week - I bet)

4mg is the largest prescribed dose of Xanax. It's not tons but it's significant enough you may want to taper down.
