Xanax + Red Wine = YUPPY FLIPPING

MerryB, maybe you're just jealous because I understand and can use correct English grammar.
First things first:
"It's" is a contraction of "it is," while "its" is a possessive adjective (as in the dog scratched its butt). "That's" is a contraction of "that is;" "thats" is not a grammatically correct word.
Secondly:
"They" is a plural pronoun, which therefore by definition cannot refer to a singular subject [see your words: "Thats what they get for trying to be a tough guy."]
Maybe spending a little less time chatting it up and a little more time paying attention in english class would prevent people from making fun of your "creativity" in sentence construction.

MerryB, you're such a sweetie. Don't listen to ShellyShell, there's no need to encourage jerks like that.

Thank you ShellyShell but I believe in your sentence "the dog scratched its butt" the correct form of would actually be "it's" since the butt belongs to the dog.
I'm sorry I did not add my apostrophes in my response. I didn't really have time, I was studying my English.
I hope we have all learned something today. Idiots can go to a message board and correct people's grammar rather than stick to the point of the thread, and still think they have a clue.

MerryB, lest you find yourself acting like the (your words) "Idiots [who] can go to a message board and correct people's grammar rather than stick to the point of the thread, and still think they have a clue," you might want to make sure you know your rules.
Again, it's is a contraction of it is, not a possessive adjective. Its, without apostrophe (like hers or his) is the possessive. If we wouldn't say "the dog scratched it is butt," we wouldn't say "the dog scratched it's butt," now would we?
Maybe we should all take Trancendance's advice and not encourage jerks like me. He certainly didn't.
Oh, wait except for when he said "Whatever Shellyshell, your cunt stinks." and "Whatever, just because your ghetto ass is used to drinking 40s while being raped by your father, that doesn't mean that there's no merit to the Yuppie Flip. Maybe someday you'll whore yourself out of the projects and into the trailer park, then you could at least afford a wine cooler and some cough syrup. That's the closest to Yuppie Flipping you'll ever get."
Good times.
The moral/upshot of this post: "Do as I say, not as I do" is still alive and well.

oh please, there was no need for that at all, you should both grow up!
trance was being creative, and sharing an experence....
i am very poor at spelling, i am also dyslexic, one thing that puts me off posting in here is the fact that i will probably get flamed for my lack of grammer and spelling, but it doenst change my wanting to share my experence... and if my spelling is bad it doenst make me stupid.
it isnt ment to be a "practice your spelling here" forum.... and it shouldnt be a "flame the other as much as possible" forum either...
both of you grow up....
anyway, thanx for the original post.

I was under the impression that "flipping" meant to flip which drugs you feel. Ie candy-flip means sometimes you feel your tripping, sometimes rolling. Trolling is when you feel both effects at the same time. Soo... I don't believe the term flipping is appropriate anyways... so the whole thread is just a pointless flamewar

i have nothing useful to add to this thread. i just wanted to say that i'm thrilled that shellyshell used the phrases "good times" (although in my opinion you should say it twice "good times, good times" for full effect) and "asswhore." i don't know what an asswhore is and i don't want to find out.
peace.

I dont understand why I'm being called immature I was just telling trance he had a good idea, shellyshell attacked me so I defended myself, thats all.
I was just saying that I dont have time to check my grammar before I post. like us all I'm sure.

Is that a bandwagon trundling by? I think I'll leap on it.

Although not technically incorrect, the meaning of this phrase is somewhat obtuse. Remember shellyshell, the importance of language is not slavish adherence to grammar and syntax. Rather the purpose of this forum is to encourage free and open communication, it is the message not the language which is of importance. This is especially true in an international forum such as this where the communicants may not speak english as their mother tongue.
Many times I have felt myself cringing inwardly at spelling and grammar all across the web, but it is not a valid response to go through life correcting everyone, especially when the aim is to score cheap points.

Well, shoot me in the face and call me ugly. Contrary to popular e-belief, I'm neither a grammar nazi nor an officer (undercover or otherwise) with the language police.
My ride on grammar patrol really began as a joking stab at Trancendance for his/her misspelling, only because my introduction to this site was through Trancendance's beef with another GLer, re: that GLer's misspelling of "juggling." Somehow it all just snowballed from there.
Anyway, I resent being told by a stranger what my personal aims are and that my reponse, a manifestation of noted (projected) aims, is invalid.
My question: how can something subjective -- like an opinion, aim, or reaction -- be objectively incorrect or invalid?
Good times, good times.

Okay, ignoring the above off-topic crap, I have to say that I already coined the term "yuppie - flipping" (or yuppy - flipping) for combining coke and e.
This is a better use of the word because:
1) "Flipping" is traditionally used for combining e and another drug, ala candyflipping and hippyflipping.
2) Coke and e is the kind of superficial, expensive and trendy combo that yuppies would do (superficial because the coke kills the empathetic qualities of the roll).
3) Taking two downers together isn't much of a flip.
4) If you start using the word "flipping" to refer to combos that don't have e, then there will just be too damn many stupid "flippings." Limiting it to e combos helps minimize the number of "flippings" you can have.

PB-
Those are fair points, though in my first post I addressed the "flip" definition issue.
Furthermore, coke & e aren't synergistic (as you said, coke cancels out some of the e effects), whereas red wine and xanax are.
Also, you're MUCH more likely to find yuppies drinking wine and/or taking xanax than doing coke.
Regardless, it's not like we're petitioning Noah Webster here, so we can each use whatever terminology we like.
I do agree that flipping typically denotes an E combination, but why not broaden our linguistic horizons?

Hey ShellyShell- YOUR UGLY sorry couldnt help myself.
I would consider people who drink red wine more of yuppies than people who do coke. but thats me
Plus doing coke and e is just stupid so that should be called moron-flipping

To Diffidence -- Is that possible?
To everyone else:
Who says coke is not a yuppie drug? Look at those movies set in New York with the young guys in suits doing coke in bathrooms. What is more yuppie than that?
Also, as much as we may cringe at the thought of combining these (unless, of course, we have both handy) it does happen frequently where people (1) are not well educated on e and (2) have access to coke. I've been offered coke by people rolling at clubs. I've taken coke on the come down, which I actually like if I am going to be staying up for a while.
For no particular reason, I believe people in Miami do coke and e together a lot. But I have no basis for that belief. If true, though, maybe this could be called Rico-Flipping (as in Rico Suave).
Also, has anybody pointed out that it is just plain stupid to call anything a "flip" when one of the ingredients is alcohol? At the very least, a "flip" should involve two significant, illegal substances:
Candyflip
Hippyflip
Kittyflip
Foxyflip
I mean, there is no word for weed and e, right? Weed is not just serious. If you do these together, you do not say you Mari-Flipped. You just say you rolled, because weed is insignificant. Alcohol is also insignificant, so there.
~psychoblast~
p.s. Now combine xanax and absinthe and maybe we'll talk...
