Xanax not wearing off?? WTF?

Okay. Last evening i was given some Xanax from a friend. I took 2mgs at 10pm and had the best sleep ever.

I wake up today drowsy but this didn't alarm me, just thought it would gradually wear off during the day.

It is now 8pm (T+22 hours after dose) and Im still stupidly dopey. Shouldn't it have worn off by now. I thought xanax was a short acting benzo?

Im certain it was not an extended release formulation (saw the bottle). WTF is wrong with me. I am currently on a low dose of Zoloft (50mgs ed) and although there is a slight interaction between the two it should not be this bad.

I am moderately experienced with other benzos (temazepam, oxazepam, diazepam and clonazepam) but not Xanax. Probably at least once a fortnight i will use one of those. Ive never had any adverse reactions with those...(valium did last quite a long time but was that expected)

Is this something i should start to worry about?

Shit i hope this makes sense...im still incredibly out of it. ARGHH. even a smallish shot (0.1g) of meth hasnt snapped me out of it.

EDIT - also, in another hopefully unrelated matter, when i registered my shot..the blood was bright red..almost like what you would expect from an artery. Was using the vein in the crook of my elbow (you know, the big one everyone learns to shoot in 1st) so im positive it wasnt an artery. Ive never seen my blood like this before. Its normally a dull dark red.

I wouldn't worry. It is a short acting benzo. Most people prescribed this drug are instructed to take it 3 to 4 times per day as needed. It's half life for immediate release is 11+ hours.

You may just be tired.

For some reason I get something similar every time I take xanax. It doesn't happen with any other benzo either. The next day I am extremely tired and usually just sleep the day away.

Try cutting down the dose maybe. 2mg w/o tolerance is pretty high. If u don't take it regularly u probably need like 0.5-1mg.

xanax always has an effect on me the next day......it is quite relaxing imo. I actually enjoy the day after taking benzos more

ive had a grogginess from benzos in the past which lasted a day or two my first couple experiences. 2mg is a pretty solid dose for no tolerance, just like my first few experiences. try to eat well and take it easy, you should feel fine in a couple more days; in the future if you do decide to dabble with benzos, try something like .25 or .5 mg of xanax(or equivalent).

thanx for the advice guys. Its now T+2days and its finallyyyy worn off....at 1AM in the morning..right when i want to go to sleep..lol.

I dont actually remember making this thread but im sure your replies helped calm my nerves at the time....Hmmm aren't benzos supposed to relieve anxiety. haha.

Yeah. Xanax is not for me. No more. I dont get why it is the no.1 abused benzo. A nice dose of serepax (oxazepam) or ativan (lorazepam) does me. Not a fan of downers anyway...i cant understand the psychology of them...why take something to get down when there is so much to do? sitting around nodding off or walking around in a stupor just doesnt get me off. Stims all the way. Benzos for coming down to sleep...but only so i can wake up and take more stimulants.

I like to take .5 mg (about a quarter of what you took) to relax or if I am having anxiety issues. But ya IDK why people like to get all stupid on them, not remembering what they did, who they talked to, what they said, etc.

I don't get too groggy unless I take a lot. The benzos that make me groggy are valium and especially klonopin

I havent taken valium in years but when I did, I took one & slept 12 hours & got up & still felt tired. I dont take them anymore either. Valium & xanax are the only benzos ive ever tried but I dont think I would like any benzo.
