xanax. need help getting it prescribed

Hey everyone, first off, I suffer from really bad social anxiety, and just anxiety in general, and I often and randomly get panic attacks as well.

With that being said, the only doctor im seeing at the moment is a rheumatologist, and i was wondering if they can even prescribe me with some kind of benzo for my anxiety. One of the current medications im taking, which he is prescribing me, is actually giving me even worse anxiety, and i have an appointment to see him soon, which is why I was wondering if he could prescribe me with benzos.

also, which benzo would you think would work best for me? I know xanax works quicker but lasts shorter compared to klonopin, if i remember.

any info would be appreciated. thanks
 
Sorry man but nobody here is going to help you get any drug prescribed.

Nobody can tell you what drug would be the best for you medicinally over the internet. That's why there are doctors that require visits to prescribe them. Not necessarily just prescribe a Benzodiazepine to help with anxiety for example, but to be able to diagnose the actual cause of the anxiety and the best solution to take care of it.

If you don't feel like your doctor is properly diagnosing something or taking care of your needs then you need to see another doctor.

I just had to point that out. No pun intended lol? Be careful with having drug-seeking behavior. It may also be in your best interests to find out the cause of your anxiety. Very rarely does short-term Benzo therapy work. Most people find themselves in a much bigger hole then they were in before they started taking benzo's. Good luck!

try ativan .5mg at first but really you dont get much say in your treatment

Is this how things work in Canada?

Walk into office. Get drug of choice. Go to another doctor for something else or more.

That's what your post is saying....
 
^No that is not how it works in Canada. IME it's harder to get benzos here than in the US. And don't think that is what RobotRipping was saying at all either - I think they were just trying to say a rheumatologist is not likely to give you more than one fill if they are willing to prescribe - they would expect you to find a doctor more experienced/knowledgeable with mental health issues.

OP - Unfortunately this thread is against our guidelines (see link in my sig). We can't tell you how to get prescribed a medication and we can't know whether your doctor can or will prescribe to you. Or even know what drug would work best for you personally (although I recommend non-drug treatment). Just tell your doctor your symptoms, and the side effects you are getting from your current meds, and see what he recommends and if he can refer you to someone who treats anxiety. Closing this.
