xanax / hydrocodone combination

my friend has read a 1000 times that mixing hydrocodone and alprazolam is a bad idea, but he knows all of the dangers of liver toxicity, shallow breathing, and possibility of death, no lecture necessary; he knows well enough.

all my friend wants to know is how much hydrocodone to take while having a large (6mg+ daily) alprazolam dosage.

he understands that both drugs potentiate one another, but how much hydrocodone would he need to get a good buzz without overdoing it? he is used one yellow norco but he says it isn't working as well and was wondering how safe it was to take more than that without worrying about respiratory problems.

my friend will greatly appreciate anyone with great benzo knowledge.

Secondly, please don't use "my friend"..just write your post as you would speak. It is against the rules here and everyone knows it is you and it does nothing to prevent any type of self incrimination.

Do you have any opiate tolerance at all? Do you normally take opiates regularly?

okay no problem i just don't use forums regularly.. i'm aware of swim etc. thanks for the update.

just 6mg alprazolam, 2mg 3x daily for years and bad back pain lately.

minor to no opiate tolerance, started at 2.5-5mg for pain medication and 10mg would be more than enough, but now 10mg is a therapeutic dose, and i am wondering what kind of dosage changing i would have to make with the alrpazolam/hydrocodone to stay safe and not become a statistic

Hmm. Assuming you're pretty tolerant to your alprazolam, try taking a 2mg tablet along with 10-20mg of the hydrocodone (I'd lean more towards the 20mg end) and see how you feel. I can bet that'll be pretty good. If not, I wouldn't raise the alpraz beyond 2-2.5mg, but maybe I'd bump the hydro up to 25-30mg. Personally, I think 30mg hydro along with 2mg alprazolam would be a nice buzz with a good kick to it. Should be safe considering your tolerance to your xanax, and the fact that 20-30mg of hydrocodone just really isn't much. It was the first opioid I ever took in my life and as a 16 y/o 140lb male in high school I would take two 7.5/750 hydro tabs and tolerate it just fine. Eventually with very low tolerance and still low weight and such, I was able to take 30-40mg hydro with 1-3mg of clonazepam alongside and never was in danger or had issues. But obviously safety is first, and do not jump straight for a 2-bar/30mg hydro cocktail for breakfast this morning. Take it slow and monitor your results.
 
For me and many people I know alprazolam does not potentiate opioids.and actually completely kills the euphoria and leaves nothing but sedation and increased respiratory depression. Keep this in mind because many people I know will try and compensate the dull euphoria by adding more and more opioids til they're playing with fire. Since you(or your friend) are very tolerant to alpraz I would reccomend going no higher than 30-40mgs of hydro. If your still not where you wanna be just try again next time with a lower alpraz dose. I don't know why people choose to use benzos as potentiators, they only thing they potentiate is danger IME.

That's a lot of xanax if you're going to also be taking hydro. If no tolerance to opiates, I'd say 15-20mg. This is assuming you have benzo tolerance. If you're still getting fucked up really hard on that xanax, you shouldn't really be mixing that large of a dose. Sure you can take 30-40mg hydro and get really fucked up, but you won't be able to breathe well and risking death. Not really worth it. I have a friend who started mixin the two regularly, but he has a MASSIVE opiate and benzo tolerance. Mixing the two without a tolerance to both is a risky situation, especially when you start taking medium-large doses.
 
The xanax itself does not do that much so i would say i have a high tolerance, but i do notice the respiratory issues, mostly during the come down of the hydro. That is one of the main reasons I posted, bummer, sounds like there is not going to be much coming out of the hydro, I don't feel like risking my life over a semi-crappy high.

Will you go through withdrawal if you half your dose of alpraz? Look, I'm not encouraging this but I have zero benzo tolerance and have taken up to 3mgs of xanax with up to 60mgs of oxy with no strong signs of resp depression. If your tolerant then halving your xanax dose should give off very little respiratory problems as long as you don't exceed 40mgs of hydro. If you feel the risk isn't worth it then by all means give up on the idea, only you know your limits.
 
3mg of xanax and 60mg oxy on no tolerance with no respiratory depression isn't really normal. I've experienced it on 1mg xanax+30mgoxy.
 
I forgot to mention I'm tolerant to opioids, I made the comparison because it's a reverse but similar situation of the OP. My regular oxy dose at the time was around 110mgs oxy, I simply halved it with no problems. Either way OP make your best judgement if you do decide to do, everyone has their thresholds.

I have a high tolerance to opiates and took 7 , 7.5 norcos and took 1mg xanax will this call for. A good buzz?
