Xanax for Etizolam withdrawal

Long story short I have a bad etizolam habit and am prescribed xanax. I am out of etizolam for at least another week but just hit my 90 .5 mg xanax prescription filled today. I thought the Xanax would get me through until I could get more etizolam but it doesn't seem to be helping with the withdrawal symptoms at all...I figured xanax was stronger so I would be fine but apparently I am completely wrong or just psyching myself out. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have tried to find a thread similar and there are cross tolerance threads but nothing specifically related to my current situation.

I don't have experience personally with it, but Xanax has a very short half life and will only help for a very short period of time. You want a benzo with a long half life such as clonazepam or diazepam.

I know I wish I had access to that but really I got myself into this hellish situation. Etizolam is also a short acting anxiolytic.. Etizolam is a thieodizapine while xanax is a benzodiazepine. Still Xanax being as potent as it is I didn't thing etizolam withdrawal would be an issue. I took enough to where my heart doesn't feel like it's beating out of my chest but I am dreading the morning when I have to wake up to open my store.

My plan next time to see my doctor is to request a longer lasting Benzo like clonazepam. Really I wish I could just stop it all but right now I feel like I need these drugs to function. In my mind I know it. I am not going to admit to my etizolam use. I was up to about 5 mgs a day and stopped cold turkey as in ran out thinking I will be fine. I don't feel fine and by the time I can get etizolam at this rate I will be out of xanax and be in the same boat, I imagine worse.

I would just assume that since they're both GABA-A agonists that Xanax would stave off withdrawal from etizolam. But that doesn't really even help the overall addiction, though, it would be like staving off heroin withdrawal with oxy or something

It is helping now i just have to take twice as much which makes sense without the etizolam and all. I feel okay I guess now normal. I kind of regret making this thread now I feel a bit embarrassed putting myself in this situation in the first place. Thanks for the responses.
