SWIM apologizes if he is in the wrong thread or discussion, and SWIM encourages mods to move his threat to the right area if that is the case. Here is SWIM's story:

SWIM is here not trying to get high but trying to get help. You see SWIM has extremely bad anxiety but also has very limited insurance that only covers physical health with an MD who does not cover "mental" conditions. Oddly, SWIM is on Concerta for ADHD, which SWIM's insurance considers "physical" health for some odd reason. SWIM believes this has something to do with his transition from childhood to adult, which has not been picked up by his insurance company, as SWIM has worked at the same company in a relatively high level position since before he turned 18. Anyway, SWIM has not disputed such claim because SWIM needs and benefits from Concerta and SWIM does not want to lose it. But SWIM also has bad anxiety which has remained untreated for many years due to insurance issues. SWIM's insurance is issued through his employer and though ObamaCare offers SWIM a good alternative, at present time that alternative is too expensive for SWIM to afford so SWIM has been forced to accept an exemption that allows him to remain on his current, very limited, insurance plan. The cheapest psyciatrist for SWIM would be $150 a visit plus the cost of anxiety medicine, so understand its simply not something SWIM can afford.

Anyway, SWIM has noticed his anxiety is almost nonexistant when drinking heavily (alcohol). Someone told SWIM that Xanax has a similar effect to alcohol, but without the "drunk" behavior. Meaning SWIM would get the anti-anxiety effects of alcohol with none of the drunk/intoxicating effects of alcohol. Can someone tell me if this is true, so that I can inform SWIM. You see, SWIM knows of a location to obtain Xanax very cheap, much cheaper than alcohol, but SWIM is afraid Xanax will harm him in some way. Perhaps it will have side effects with his Concerta, or perhaps it will do nothing but get him high, which SWIM is not interested in. SWIM is interested in treating his severe anxiety, not getting high. SWIM does not want to harm himself, and SWIM does not care to get high, but SWIM is pretty poor and needs help knowing if Xanax (or something else) may help him treat his anxiety. SWIM thanks you for your assistance. SWIM would like you to know he is on Concerta 72MG daily. SWIM cares very much about his health and does not want to overdose or die. SWIM would prefer replies from those who know for a fact if Concerta 72MG will interact in anyway with Xanax, and of course if Xanax will actually help SWIM in anyway. SWIM very much thanks all that reply.

Welcome to BL. Here we don´t use SWIM. My experience with benzos is that it does work. It changes who you are, but when you stop using it, you become even more anxious than before with the additional problem of the psychological addiction.

Is Xanax a "benzo". Forgive me, I don't know much about drugs, I have never been a "druggie", all I want is help for anxiety. I have heard Xanax has the potential to help, but its simply not possible to retrieve due to insurance/cost/regulation reasons. Would Xanax work? Could it help anxiety? More importantly, would it work with Concerta 72MG without serious side effects or death? I am also on blood pressure medication, btw. Sorry for sounding so extreme. I am not interested in a "high". I am interested in help for severe anxiety. If I wanted to get high, I'd buy some painkillers, which pretty much everyone of my neighbors sells. I'm not. I have severe anxiety, I'd like some expert opinions on medications like Xanax that can help with anxiety. Thank you!

I would imagine the anxiety stems from your dose of Concerta which seems pretty high. I am ADHD myself and find there is a fine line between what is therapeutic and what may be too much of a given stimulant medication. If the beta blocker or blood pressure medication doesnt help that is also a clue that your dose may be too high. Go get honest with your Doc and I am sure you will get it figured out.

Why even SWIM if you're legitimately asking for advice regarding legal prescriptions which may be hard to get because of insurance haha.

Sorry. Anyways, you should be able to get xanax from your regular doc. If you anxiety is affecting ANYTHING else, exaggerate it, bring it up next time. They can DEFINITELY script you xanax. It sounds like they want to "do you a favor" and put you on the bankroll drugs. I've literally had a psychiatrist put me on an SSRI the moment it hit the market because it was non-generic, and she was getting paid by the company. I told her no problem, I'll cop a semi-insurance covered bottle of that shit for ya, but Im gonna need more Kpins every month, I'm assuming you can make that happen.

I get my xanax because my anxiety affects my appetite and stomach. I mean you sound like an honest person. Go be honest with your doctor.
