Xanax and Zoloft with Tramadol

Hi everyone. My dr has just prescribed me 25mg Zoloft and 0.25mg of Xanax. He does not know that I am a Tramadol addict, taking about 100mg a day. I know it's not safe to combine Zoloft and trams bc of possible serotonin syndrome. Is it possible to take them both at low doses? I know it's risky. I've tried to quit the trams so many times but it's so horrible.
I know I may be asking a stupid question here, but I figured why not. Also, does the tramadol have any of the same effects as the Zoloft? In other words, would I need the Zoloft for my anxiety if I'm on the tramadol?

sometimes they're prescribed together when the dosages are monitored.

as someone who's used tramadol for a decade, i advise you against mixing them. the zoloft fucks up the tramadol buzz as well as the risk of serotonin syndrome which you mentioned. ditch the zoloft because it won't give you anything the tramadol can't.

tramadol has zoloft's properties and more.
 
Ok thanks. I'm gonna skip the Zoloft at least until I can get off the trams. Worst wds ever :(
 
Next time you attempt to quit tramadol get some Loperamide aka Imodium. It does wonders for the physical symptoms of withdrawal because it is an opiate. Loperamide is immediately pumped out of the brain as soon as it crosses the BBB, so no high feeling, but it does help tremendously with the cold sweats, chills and stomach issues. I take 700mg tramadol a day and have gone through withdrawal from this amount multiple times. You can also use Benadryl or Unisom to help with sleep. Weed also helps if you can get it.

I agree with the other replies that it is a bad idea to mix Zoloft and Tramadol, but Xanax and tramadol is a good combo. Xanax raises your seizure threshold so it actually makes taking tramadol safer. Not at really high doses, but at the doses you mentioned I would say you are safe.
