xanax and weed/tobacco interactions

Hey everyone, just a quick question.

I've heard recently that tobacco can severely reduce a benzo's effect. I'm taking 1.5-3mg of xanax tonight and I always smoke bud with my benzos. The thing is I mix my buds about 65/35 with tobacco (35 being the tobacco). I've been doing this for quite a while now. Have I been ruining the effects of my benzo by smoking a few bongs 0.0

All help is appreciated, thanks.

i havent got any evidence to proove anything but

i would seriously doubt that the interaction would be even noticable between benzos and tobacco

I found the benzo/tobacco combo to be really nice, actually. Very relaxing.

I doubt there will be any severe interaction caused by this. Just sounds like a good time.

I've heard conflicting things on nicotine/alprazolam interactions. I've heard that nicotine lowers the level of alprazolam in your bloodstream. I've also heard that there is no interaction between the two.

I've researched it, but haven't found a decent, reliable study to look to for some information.

The weed I think will just synergize with the Xanax.

I actually remember reading on this site a while ago that tobacco would reduce alprazolams effects but the amount your doing probably won't even be noticeable. I don't really smoke but i always do on benzos and i haven't really noticed any difference.

Thanks for all the posts! There's definitely mixed ideas on the matter. I didn't notice a difference last night smoking straight bud. But as ro4eva stated, I've heard the exact same thing. Strange...

This is something very interesting I would like to know more about I enjoy Tobacco a bit now and than same with Benzos. What I would really like to know is if you do not smoke more than once a week roughly how long after your last bit of Tobacco can you use Benzos without any diminished affects is it in a matter of hours or weeks months maybe or just when the Nicotine itself is cleared out of your body or what exactly?

Hmmm I wonder, why did I start smoking so early in life maybe I could have given a better answer. ;)

If there is any truth to it that would be good news for me. My tolerance to benzo's is so high that xanax is no longer a good sleep-aid at sane dosages. I wonder if I continue to abstain from benzos and give the smoking up, will that get me back to a tolerance where I can take 1mg xanax for sleep every now and again?

I love smoking tobacco, but I'd give it up in a heart beat if I could have my sleeping safety net back. Been able to control my insomnia with other things (not drugs), but some nights a do need something, and xanax was great before I started taking it every day at 2+mg
