I have average experience with benzos. Mostly xanax, some kolonopin. Just curious if benzos decrease sex drive like opiates do. and if so, is it comparable to opiates, less or worse?

Apparently they lower your sex drive, but I have been on them for 3 years and haven't noticed much difference....If anything I can concentrate better because I am not overthinking "should i do this, should i do that"....Xanax took all my "over-thinking" power away. The first year I started using xanax, I binged on my birthday and convinced my gf to give me head three times in that day. To this day, never had better head in my life....and I have gotten a blowjob from the same girl give or take 1000x (was with her 7 yrs...)

It's really wierd but lorazepam completely kills my sex drive. However alprazolam levaes it unaffected or even maybe raises it. I don't understand this. But then again physiopharmacology(would that be the word?) is crazy. It could have been just because I took the lorazepam for longer periods of time.....BUT seriously if i take even a mg or two of lorazepam I can't get hard without trying really hard. Give me a mg or two of xanax and even with beer it's no problemo. I don't remember with clonazepam but it's wierd how one chemical and another in the same group act completely differnt on certain areas.

the disinhibition could actually raise it imo, but i don't think it decreases it in the way that opiates do.

I completely believe they destroy your sex drive.

This is my reasoning why -

What actually makes you horny, from what I understand, is anxiety (a form of "sexual anxiety" or "sexual tension"). For instance, sex FEELS much better when you are anxious. And when people get really horny, they tend to get irritable and anxious... cause they want to have sex. But paradoxically, if you become too anxious, you won't seek out a sexual partner.

So when you take something that masks that anxiety, you effectively lower your sex drive.

And here is more anecdotal evidence to support this idea.

I simply can not masturbate at night *after* I take my benzos. I can't have sex. I have 0 desire to.
But as my benzos are wearing off, between 6pm-midnight (I take them around 2am) that is when I feel horny. Its when the pills are wearing off.
There have been so many times I've had porn on right before taking my dose, I take my dose, have to search for an hour or 2 to find that 1
magic video, nothing does it for me, and I just turn porn off and lose the desire.

So I completely, 100% believe that benzos lower your sex drive.

Lets not forget, they basically tranquilize your body. They numb you. I'm not saying you can't have sex on benzos cause you can. I'm saying
it feels 10xs better to do it BEFORE you take your dose. Not after.

benzos have always pretty much killed my sex drive..i still have the ability to have sex although it requires much more effort but the desire or drive to have sex just is not there on benzos..tbh on benzos, i have very little desire to do much at all besides sit around watch movies or talk..

this has always been a huge negative about benzos for me is the sex drive decrease..theres no way getting around it either unless you take meth or some stim

The relationship between benzos and your sex drive depends on a few things. First is the dose you take. If it is limited to small amounts, I imagine the lack of inhibition would make it easier to get in the mood and into bed. Take too much, and you might just make an ass of yourself and get anything but laid. Also, enough of any sedating drug can make you lacking in functionality.
Personally, last time I had sex on benzos I was on 4mg of xanax and a good amount of NORCOs, and I actually forgot several times what I was doing. Similar to opiates, it is difficult and rare to climax if you've passed the certain point of intoxication.
Honestly, if you're looking for a sexual encounter benzos are not the best way to prepare.
