Xanax and rapid tolerance and trouble stopping Suboxone (Not sure what to do)

Ive been wondering around bluelight for some time now and have discovered a lot of very intriguing information. I decided to go ahead and create and account of my own, since I have had a few questions that you all may be able to help me with. The main question being why my tolerance is shooting through the roof with my Xanax.

Backround Information
I have been a serious opiate addict for quite some time, I started around 16 and now I am 24. It started as the usual with Loratabs, Percocets, etc then moved onto Oxycontin and finally heroin. After using all these for some time I decided to try and quit. So I began to go to the methadone clinic. While there I excelled and stayed clean but I was also prescribed my Xanax at the same time while on the methadone. Over time I began abusing the Xanax more and more to get high off my methadone. Eventually, I got kicked out the clinic because of abusing the Xanax like I was. Anyways, I went cold turkey from 140mgs of methadone and Xanax and stayed clean for quite some time after that (5-6 months). I recently had to get a few root canals done and was given percocet for the pain. After I took that first pill it awakened a demon inside of me. I started getting the dentist to give me more and more then eventually went to the streets to score some real dope. I finally decided to quit again and have been seeing a suboxone doctor.

My Problem
I am currently prescribed 16mg Suboxone a day and 2mg Xanax 3 times daily. I usually dont take near that much Suboxone daily. I try and keep it at 4-6 mgs a day, but I find it very hard to drop lower than that dose. It seems like when I get to a lower dose then that, my back begins to hurt and I just seem to be overall uncomfortable. I plan on trying to setup a detox plan for my suboxone sometimes soon and I believe my Xanax will help that tremendously. When I was first put on the Xanax about a month ago, half a bar would make me feel wonderful and even very sleepy at times. Now I have noticed as time has gone on that I am sometimes taking 4 to 5 bars at a time and they seem to have little to no effect. I know stopping for a couple days would be a good idea but it is very hard to do when you have true anxiety. Is there any suggestions on what I can do to try to increase the effect of my Xanax or lower my tolerance?

P.S. My sub doc doesnt take insurance so its $200 a month to see him plus about $400 for 60 tablets of suboxone at the pharmacy. I told him about the generic Subutex, but he said that the only way he could write it was if I was allergic to something in the suboxone or otherwise he would get into trouble.

I'm having the same problem with suboxone. I was prescribed 16mg daily but have recently been tapering down. I can get by with 8mg a day now but anything less and I begin to feel like shit. I'm guessing we'll just have to stick with our current doses for awhile before our bodies get used to it and we can reduce it more.

I don't have any experience with the subs. But I do have experience with xanax.. I just came off of at after 3 years of panic disorder I did switch to valium cause I am going off of klonopin next.. You should wait to come off the subs.. and taper down on the xanax.. get down to a normal dose.. then come off the subs.. It might do that kind of therapy better. Also you might want to look into a longer acting benzo such as klonopin or valium. It's gonna be tough but I wish you the best of luck!
