Xanax and alcohol - Have I screwed up?

Well this shit scares me. Started off with 4 2mg bars from when I orginally made this post. Only did about 1-1.5mg last weekend (and gave .5mg away) then left it a week. Then this weekend after doing MD on Friday, I've done 2mg spread out over 2 days in 0.5mg chunks.

Suddenly realised that the fuck is happening and flushed my last half a bar down the toilet! I'm probably sounding like a right pussy here, but am I in danger of any rebound anxiety or other shit after my short xanax stint?

Xanax is a sneaky little bastard, it almost scares me. I've never had an addiction to anything in my life, but I can now see why people smash benzos. I used to look down on everyone who did that, but I've changed my tune.

Never again. I'm just going to sit in the corner now and start fearing WD....

I really wouldn't worry too much mate. Although benzos are insidious little bastards, it takes a lot more than the usage pattern you describe to form a physical addiction.

The thing that makes benzos so useful therapeutically is also what makes them dangerous recreationally. The amnesia produced is great for premedication to make people lose memory of painful or traumatic procedures but is also a bastard if you have hundreds to hand , take a few, forget what the fuck you are doing and wake up two days later with non left (or wake up in a police cell). Great for stopping seizures though. Usually 5mg of diazemuls IV or PR does the trick...10mg tops.

As fubar says though it takes quite a bit to develop a dependence although once you do the WDs can make opiate WDs seem like a day out in disneyworld.

^^
Yup.

It takes a good 6-8 weeks to start inducing clear physiological withdrawal with most benzo's IME, though Alpraz is pretty sweet at cunt-punching your GABA system in a very short space of time.

The most worrying part of the whole RC scene for me personally is the dizzying array of benzos (or benzo analogues or whatever) that are so mega potent and mega cheap...especially in powdered form and especially things like f-lam that could easily be used as a fucking rhino tranquilizer.

I would actually like to see some serious study of F-Lam, it's an abomination but one that carries a very unique and frequently reported property: the obliteration of the efficacy of standard benzodiazepines in a remarkably short time frame but retaining its own potential action. If it was simply a result of typical downstream signalling reduction and receptor desensitisation to its substrate then the dose of F-Lam required to elicit marked effects would rise in a fashion that is close to as linear as that of the other drugs in its class, but it doesn't - it renders everything but itself ineffective.
I have a theory that the binding spread is for all sub-units in the GABA system and of such high affinity that it competitively inhibits all other substrates in a manner not dissimilar to the "blockade potential" of Methadone that remains bound to the target for long after the effect is perceptible.

Yeah that sounds sensible. Ive only tried it once and was amazed at how fast a 1mg effective dose turned into a 50mg dose in a matter of days. The increbible amnesiac effects and total lack of motor coordination made it pretty much unuesable for the purpose i was hoping for (horrrible NE cascade due to abrubt cessation of mu and GABA agonist meds). It certainly is a novel one but fuck me its dangerous!!

Edit...just reread your post and i see you were saying something different about it rendering other benzos innefective. I didnt really go down that route but i did find its effacacy significantly reduced after a few days and the need to increase the dose but that could just be me and the fqct ibwas clutching at straws due to feeling like death warmed up!
