Okay another side question. How much alzaprolam is too much? I mean, Whats the highest dosage it comes in, and how much should one take to just get high. I heard it lasts for a bout 6 hrs?
Im thinking about going to a psychiatrist and trying to get this stuff. By taking 1mg in the morning, it really helps me. Abusing it and drinking it is another story but man this helps.
Thanks for your previous responses.
How much you need to get high varies from person to person, and depends on your tolerance. Also, some people never feel like they "get high" off benzos, especially anxiolytic ones. 0.5mg or even 0.25mg would be a good starting dose for a benzo-naive person IMO. I don't know what the highest dise pills it comes in (we don't really use it in the UK) but 1mg bars are standard. In terms of the highest dose that can be prescribed - there is no max limit; guidelines are set on how much should be used but in reality it depends on the patient's tolerance. If they are needing huge amounts though, the doctor will taper them down or they will have to detox.
6 hoours seems a little optimistic for duration - it is one of the shorter acting benzos out there. Although if you already take 1mg in the morning you know how long it lasts for you I presume? Again it can vary a little from person to person.
Be wary of your tolerance shooting up if you use daily, and of addiction. Benzo addiction sneaks up on you but can be extremely difficult to kick - especiallty a short-acting benzo like alprazolam. If I were you I'd try to only use it when I really needed it, and take regular breaks, and don't use two days in a row etc..
If you are taking it for anxiety, I would strongly suggest checking out other ways of tackling this - benzos are like a band aid; they don't get to the root of the problem and tolerance/dependence make them unsuited to long term use. Take a look at some of the links in the TDS directory in my signature, and see what you think - options include counselling, CBT (often very effective), psychodynamic psychotherapy etc.. These are all things to discuss with your psychiatrist, if you do make an appointment, but also feel free to start a thread in TDS if you want some help and support
