Xanax addiction with non-daily use?

I make it a point to stay away from daily benzo use, because I've read how bad its withdrawal can be.

My question is, can I safely take 1.5 to 2mg of xanax, say, 3 times a week? And never on consecutive days except on very rare occasions.

I know xanax has a relatively short half-life, so theoretically it seems just fine. It just seems like every report I've read is about addiction from daily use, and if someone has become physically dependent upon taking xanax 3 times a week for an extended period of time I'd really like to know for the sake of harm reduction.

if you evenly space out the days probably yes. and also every once in a while take a week off.

but let me warn you friend. it is so so so easy to convince yourself 'just this week, 4 times' or to start taking beastly doses. thats when it gets you into trouble. i used to do this with vicodin, it worked for a good year but then the plan fell apart and took my life with it

if you can stick to the same dose and consistently space out days 3 times a week youll be safe.
good luck

If you take it that often, you will have a decent chance of becoming addicted to it. Once you are addicted, you make take it even more and become dependent.

However, I cannot personally answer whether strictly taking it 3x a week would lead to dependence, but you can become addicted.
It is a potent benzo, but you are correct in that it does have a short half-life so may be easier to avoid dependence with limited use.
