A question to my fellow canadian benzbros, are you still able to get xanax 2mg bars ? In my province's list of medications available (that list your ministry of health keeps and where you can see if the medication is paid for or not) When you get to the alprazolam 2mg part, there is 2 kinds of Xanax TL (which is XR 2mg) and only Mylan-Alprazolam 2mg for the bars. I had a script and I went from pharmacy to pharmacy trying to find them, only to have all pharmacies tell me the same thing, they didnt have those mylan bars, brand name bars are not available anymore (which is true, brand name stops at 1mg in the list). I found one pharmacy claiming to have the bars but it is very far from me in this city. They all have the 2mg Xanax TL tho (XR), which I don't want to use at all. I am in no hurry to get them as my psy is already scripting me 20mg of valium a day and this is something my GP scripted me unknowing i already had valium. All pharmacies are like "we can give you 1mg pills instead and double the amount of pills". Do Not Want, well I mean i'll take that if i am too lazy to drive to the west end of mtl just to have some of those generic mylan-alprazolam 2mg. I'm surprised that the RAMQ does not even list brand name Xanax 2mg bars anymore, are they discontinued only in canada or something?
Anyway, what I need daily benzo-wise 10mg valium bid and a bar in case of panic attack, so, maybe jut 10, 15 tops. Right now I have been unlucky about something and I am scared to go back to my doc.
I went to the pharmacy right in front of his office when he scripted me Mylan-Alprazolam 2mg, after much discussion and looking in his prescription printer machine, cos he didnt even know they existed (!). Turns out they didn't have them either, i couldnt wait and drivr 45min for the bars of the Mylan generic brand i found elsewhere, but in retrospective I should have. So I get there and when i say bah, just give me back my script i'll go to my regular pharmacy, something to note was that i was out of valium and was waiting for a renewal by my pdoc, it had been 3 weeks since my main pharmacy had faxed them about needing a refill and that didnt coincidate with the time of appointment (a retarded practice btw, doctors doing that should get extreme punishment by the order of MD's of quebec, anyway, so my GP said he could help me before i'd get to see my pdoc, 2 months ago i told him it would take 2 months to see him and i would only get to see him before xmas (which was true, and I explained to him the ridiculous long waiting time i was suffering meanwhile my script demand from the px was laying there in his secratary's office since a longt ime now).
So that first time my GP helped me out, i told him about me needing 2mg xanax bars, and he goes like, i only see 1mg tops but thats because he was typing xanax and not alprazolam -_- so i can give you a script for 1 month 1mg twice a day. Tht was more than i wanted so I was pretty damn happy. Fast forward3 weeks later, i still hadn't had my valium script renewed so i started calling and harassing his secretary all the time. Finally, she told me, go to your GP, i'm doing my best to get you apptmt + renewal meanwhile. I get there, print my doc's the RAMQ's list of covered medication and show it to him, he saw the Xanax TL and APO-Alpraz TL which are Xanax XR here and mylan-alprazolam 2mg, apparently the only fuckin generic company left making them somehow.
So back to the pharmacy with my script, tells me they dont have 2mg xanax except the XL ones, i say well, can you give me 1mgs instead ? And for some reason the gov insurance wasnt taking it, sure i was early in my script, but the reason waso obviosu to everyone : the guy isnt getting what he used to have for years and thats why he wants an early "refill", which wasn't even a refill, it was a completely different prescription, (4mg a day for 15 days max over a month). So 4 1mg purple little footballs. Not the same as 1mg bid in case of anxiety outbreak. (that means i should have had the script anyways, but i didn't).
So the nice lady pharmacist said, dont worry, we know its dangerous not to give you your xanax, i will give you 10 right now so you don't get sick and come back tomorrow i'll fix it all up with your pdoc.
I show up the next day, the head pharmacist there who is pretty cool sees me and tells me to go with him in a private office in there. He goes, "Your GP cancelled your script cos you already had valium scripted by your pdoc". I didn't know that, turns out the idiot gave the ok to my main pharm to renew my valium script, the.same.fucking.day . After waiting 6 weeks or so and annoying my GP with things that aren't his specialty, we had an agreement he would only help out until I saw my shrink/got my script. But right now he cancelled the xanax script thinking i was trying to play tricks on him i guess, and the head pharmacist (the one in front of my GP remember), not my main one, i often use it when i have non-renewable scripts, like that one. But even worse the guy goes "I will not be doing business with you anymore ever" Wat. Then I tell him i didnt even know the valium was scripted to me at my reg pharmacy. Then he sort of understood and calmed down but he said, as long as you are on methadone, you should really just take your subscriptions to your main pharmacy, which isn't mine, but you wont be able to be helped by your doctor (gp) anymore regarding benzos ever again and he told me to pass the message that he will continue being my GP, just not do anything related to my pdoc's business.
For once I had found a really good overall doc (HE IS very good) for treating everything i've had since a decade, he cured me of a lot of bad bronchitis, pneumonias, and always, always gave me pure hydrocodone pills (Hycodan 5mg) or pure codeine pills(30-60) cos "you need the rest buddy, don't take your add meds when sick too". And now i'm afraid to go to him when i will need to have my clonidine script (for high BP, archaic i know, but it works wonderfully for me), i will tell him the same thing i told the pharmacist, ie : I DIDNT KNOW I HAD MY VALIUM SCRIPT FINALLY FILLED TODAY.
Ffs, any help on how to approach a doctor whom i had built a great relationship with, never judged me ever even when he got to know i take methadone, he didnt see me asking for painkillers. I'm at 55mg and all the pain issues i could have seen him wy more often than I did before to have some opiates, but i tried to keep it to the strict minimum with him, and it did help build up some confidence between us, i just asked for Empracets (300mg apap, 30/60mg codeine) or Hycodan like mentioned earlier, which isnt even paid for by the government insurance, a weird thing to me in all honesty.
Please help in giving me ideas on how to approach him when i meet him in 7 days, i dont want to piss him off and i dont want to suddenly be told "You know you could have all the good stuff with me if you had sufficient reasons and i respect you because you are very well educated and never did pharmacies called me about a script you made for me.' Well now it hapened.
Sorry for the long ass second part, maybe I should crop it and post that elsewhere but I'm so fuckin high from the 'done, 20mg valium and the OTC promethazine (yay canada, only one chain i know of has it OTC but damn, about worth 1 Harvey's meal, say you buy 10, same thing if you buy 30!
I think I like that antihistamic opoiod potentiator even a little better than hydroxyzine, ok now i'm veering REALLY far into offtopic territory, its like when I go into prose on my and my friends' irc channel heh.
