In the episode Teso Dos Bichos in season 3, archaeologists unearth a shaman's skull in Ecuador. The natives there throw a ceremony where they eat a paste called Yaje (Ya-hay). One of the main characters in the episode ends up becoming dependent on it and making it at his house. He experiences visions and other effects. Has anyone heard of Yaje? Is it a made up drug or is there any historical use?

Yeah...another name for brews made with the Caapi Vine. I'll sometimes often see it spelled "yagé" as well. This particular term gained a bit of attention in the counter-culture when William Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg released "The Yage Letters" in 63.

Also, I'm pretty sure it is nigh impossible to get dependent on it (although psychological habituation may always be present, but still not to the point of using more and more and getting irresponsible etc. with aya).
