yeah that site is dope...but they are a pain in the ass

you'll send them all the information for a release and they reject it like a month later because you put a1 instead of A1 or something stupid that they could have just changed themselves.

but check it out anyway :)

yeah they are definatley picky about how releases are submitted to the website....but I think it's pretty fair how they work it. I guess they don't change it for you so that you learn how to do it right...that way they won't have to spend time telling you what's wrong with it instead they'll just submit it becuase it's all good.

Very informative, in-depth, diverse site...

Yeah it is a great site, but beware in the forums...they'll hate on ya if you mention the word TRANCE!!

it's a useful site.. but a complete pain in the ass..

i submit shit from the label I RUN.. and they still have me correct it. Really doesn't make much sense to me..

Indeed it is a fantastic site... I've been on there since mid 2001. Most useful discography site based on Electronic Music!!!

If anyone has any problems with the way things are dealt with on discogs... feel free to PM me... I'm a Moderator and Editor on discogs.

They don't really care much for capital letters. I wonder why they have such a late response to things. There must be a lot of people trying to submit information.

Does anyone here catalog their vinyl on it? I've started to do it but I noticed that they have a lot of records missing from it. I wish they had more moderators or would not be so anal about submissions.

I guess I'm just a little mad that it took them 2 months to finally reject my submission. Maybe they'll give me a quicker response this next time around. I do like the site tho.

i think discogs.com is a great resource. i've looked up hundreds of different things on there over the years. i haven't checked out the boards or tried to submit any entries though, so all my feedback of the site is positive.

you've got to cut them some slack, that monster database would probably be even more of a nightmare to maintain if they weren't so strict about the format of new entries.

yeah, ever check and see how many pending releases there are at one time? thats why it takes so long these days to get a release approved or rejected.

They are definatley picky about stuff. And some moderators want it one way, and some another so the standard is a bit flimsy.

I've submitted about 150 releases to the site....and I always have a full 22 pending (which is my pending limit...I'd have more pending if they let me)...they are quite slow about it. Some of my pendings have been in there for a really long time

Be sure to check out:

www.musicplasma.com

very cool site, you type in the artist and it gives you a graphical "page" that has similar artists linked to it, and blah blah etc, very cool. great for finding new music.

The server must be down because I can't access the site. Anyone else having problems getting on the site?

discogs is my favorite site and it would totally fucking suck if they got shut down. i haven't been able to get on for two days and i'm jonesing you hear me. i love the fourms. if you want to learn about edm, go there. some super smart music guys who make me feel dumb sometimes (that doesn't happen to me often!). also, if you post on the forums, your submissions will get looked at much sooner. within hours. mine at least do.

what is four4?

Apple bought discogs a couple weeks ago. Maybe it has something to do with it. Hopefully, they are just upgrading it. If not then :(

that's ood, becuase teo started discogs. he also gave Tommy_Boy the ok to print up discogs t-shirts. are you sure about that apple thing?
