Wtf was in this cannabis that I smoked about nine years ago?

I took one hit off of a pipe, and immediately felt like I had just snorted a huge line of cocaine. I almost had a heart attack, it raised my blood pressure to dangerous levels.
I am sorry but cannabis is not supposed to do that, it was clearly laced.
