Writing Challenge!!

Laydeeez annnnnn Gennulmen

I read in the Sunday papers a while back about a writing challenge and I thought it was so good I have been working on it since - with limited success.

Can you write a full story - with a proper beginning, middle and end - plot - in only 50 words.

To give you a (poor) example

'She's Late!', he thought as he stood outside the cinema hall in the rain, pink carnation in hand.
Round the corner clutching her bloom, she looked at her watch and felt stood up.
Chucking away their flowers, individually but together they both walked into the hall.

46 words. Has a plot and characters and so on, but needs more meat.

what can you come up with?

ok this is shit, but its my first go at it.
it has characters, meat, suspense, a beginning, ending and all that.
let me know what ya'll think aiight

She walked into the bedroom, there was movement in the darkness.
Her hand shook as she turned the light on,
She screamed in horror.
Her husband, and her sister sat there starin up at her with fear in their eyes
She ran out of the room crying and shot herself.

The Book Of Life

This is it,he thought,as he read the last sentence. The meaning of life will finally be revealed. And when the last word left his lips,he became the only kind of being to hold the secrets of the universe. A newborn baby. In time, he would forget everything.

Oh my Goodness that was good!
we need more of a structure though (in the one I am trying to do) - beginning, middle and end - characters and plot - in 50 words. I am finding I produce only snippets - which are great 50 words, but dont hold the structure.

I will post mine in a mo...

Jeff plays mighty music from speakers on 8th floor.
Prepares to speak to his people people, enters the balcony screaming.
Noone cares so when a Wittnes rings the door he fools it inside, tries to convince her He is god.
For he is, but it works not. and must let her go.

Red fingertips twisted tightly in her hair. She waited for him to free her hands but all she found was conditioner. When he finally placed his hands upon her head she realised all he did was hold her still. She sighed and left him with nothing but a handful of knots.

Errrm 51 words and I don't think it fits the structure you want... but it was as [anti] climactic as I could come up with in a few minutes. Fun though!

it gave me chills to read

LOVE IT!!!!

Two friends walk languidly toward nowhere in particular. Spotting a glint on the ground, one reaches downward. "Don't pick it up!" cries the other, "only do that when heads is facing upwards, otherwise it's bad luck."
The first one, chuckling, exclaims, "Put it over my eye when I die," and pockets the penny.

(might be a word or two over 50)

I’m standing by the window, longing for her attention. I ruined this fragile situation with my extramarital relations. If I had only seen her yesterday, as I see her today, I wouldn’t be crying and begging for forgiveness; but the damage has been done. For, I’ve broken her heart.

Yeah that whole beginning, middle, end thing is kinda tough! Especially for someone who was never good at the short stories. here's my first try though:

Their eyes met and the world spun. True love had finally been found. He held out a hand to her and she joined hers with his. Another lifetime to grow and learn with each other. Obstacles and challenges are nothing for two people, joined at the heart and soul.

It Unwillingly Entered The Dark Cave. Travelling Along A Soft Path… Suddenly Falling, Landing In Deep Mucky Water. Taking A Day To Get Out, It Continued Its Journey. Until, It Fell Off A Ledge, And Landed In Deep Water. It Looked In Horror, As It Was Flushed Down The Toilet…

On a day like this, there was only one thing to do.
He came back with the alchohol, poured the pills down his neck and washed them all down.
They found him three days later, the note read simply "they wouldn't leave me alone"; no one really understood why.

48.

Butterfly.

The old world was memory.

The new world was born as he exited his leaf-paper prison. He flew in the air; in the air!

He enjoyed the warmth of the sun for long enough, and then...stomachless and comfortable with his lot, succumbed to that final dark...

49 words including title...

Mike entered the room stoned into the iq of a house pet. He pulled out a gun and put it to his head -"I'm ivincible, bullets can't hurt me",- he said. "No, Mike. No!!",- yelled Joe. But Mike was too stoned to listen. "Pop",-said Mike's brain splattering over a tasteless tapestry. "Pot kills!",-said Joe.

55 or so words cant really count right now
here: beginning, he did enter the room after all. The action. And... the conclusive end :)))) It just occured to me that any comercial put in 50 words would constitute an entry to the contest :))) i'm tripping my nut off :)))

Thought this was worth a bump... I've had a go at it:

A façade.

Stace finally knew that he’d used her. She should’ve guessed; his eye had always wandered to her desk when they fucked. Her laptop. Now that he had it, she wondered if he’d find the movie. The one she’d taken of him, sleeping through the noise she made, sharpening her knife.

very nice wordy. i gotta give it a go too now.

The Nuisance.
The towel below her was wet, but refreshingly so, just like the wind that flicked the page around in her hand. The clouds uncovered the blue sky, as the warmth left her shoulders, and a figure was seen walking towards her.
"Go away... I'm reading."
Of course, he stayed.
