Writer needs your druggie-input (re: drug myths)

Okay, we've ALL heard enough bullshit drug myths to fill a big-ass book. That's exactly what I'm trying to do.
Anyway, I'm compiling, and then debunking, drug myths to be put into a book. I'm going to do this drug by drug, with some of the drugs with less myths associated with them being "categorized" (i.e. there'd be a 'dissociatives' chapter covering PCP, Ketamine HCl, DXM, N20; a chapter on prescription drugs {which I'm going to need to do some serious-ass research on}, etc.)
Also, there's going to be some myths regarding "allied topics" such as drug dealers, legalization, raves (which I'm sure I'll take some shit for 8) ), "anti-drug education" and so on.
I know there's been various "drug myth" threads that I'm aware of, but I want this to be a little different. I'm pretty much set with myths for marijuana, and LSD - those practically write themselves :) . However, I'm lacking some dealing with coke and meth, specifically.
Basically, if there's anything anyone wants to input, put it here.
 
Oh, and keep it *interesting* - I'm trying to have some thought provoking material (theories about 'gateway drugs', 'the evil junkie', 'light shows', etc.), as well as making fun of people who think LSD melts your spine...
 
...no, this isn't like the "Cleaning your Glass Dick" FAQ I tried to write before turning someone's garage into a chillout room, doing dishes, cleaning a kitchen, and recovering bits of K from 1,000 empty dime bags. I'm actually serious about this.

How about the "marijuana ruining your memory and making you stupid" myth. I have a friend who doesn't do any drugs (except drink, don't they all?) and is pretty naive about all drugs. Whenever I happen to forget something, he's always quick to blame it on the weed. "You forgot about such and such because you smoke too much herb".

Ketamine is for cats
IVing an air bubble will kill you.
Heroin isnt at all like other opiates. It's bad.
You can make meth from Vicks inhalers.
Olney's lesions really does happen to humans.
Cocaine HCl can be smoked.
Freebase cocaine and crack cocaine are two completely different drugs.
I like your idea about writing the book. What are you planning on doing with it? Are you gonna try to get it published, upload it to a website, neither, both?
 
Sorry. I just noticed you are specifically looking for meth and coke myths.
If you smoke meth it will recrystalize in your lungs.
Pink meth means that sudafed tabs were used as a psuedoephedrine source.
Cocaine is physically addictive.
The opium you have is real. heh..I cracked myself up just now.

Eh. No big deal. The weed area's thoroughly covered, ditto with MDMA.
I'm definately doing the "are you a cop" thing in the dealer section, and I'm going to go into some detail about "easy" meth synths (ditto for e and acid synths).
Yeah, I'll try to get it published. If I can't, I'll put it on the net. If I can't do that, I'll print it out, and smack stupid people with it :)
 
heh, be careful with the easy meth synths.. some of those actually might work (including the vicks method; there IS an isomer fairy, you just don't know about her.)
other suggestions (you probably have a lot of them, but no one else has mentioned them):
- LSD from Foster's beer (a net.myth, and entirely a joke)
- bananadine, the classic Ur-myth of all drug culture. (the one about scraping the residue from heated banana peels)
- there is heroin (or cocaine) in E tabs
- LSD-laced temporary tattoos (i actually remember letters about this going home in school; it's entirely fake)
- E testing kits can tell you a pill contains MDMA, meth, K and 2-CB, with a single test.
- LSD stands for something other than lysergesäure diaethylamid; the S stands for strychinine (i've actually heard that.)
- some drug (usually E or LSD) is a mix of some other drugs, e.g. E is a mixture of coke, heroin and acid.
- marijuana, LSD and a few dozen other illegal drugs have some kind of harmful effect. in fact, not only are they harmful, they're more harmful than aspirin or alcohol.

For some good coke/meth myths, looked at HookedOnDro's reply in the thread about mixing drugs w/ coke.
The idea that no girls will pay for coke and that any of them will give you head for it is a lie. I've managed to mooch coke off of female friends before and any I've never managed to get a blow for blow exchange even when I was buying. (Maybe my assertiveness training will help with that. Smile.)

It has abso-fucking-lutely nothing to do with drugs, but everything to do with urban legends. You may not get any info for the book, but you may get some inspiration for the de-bunking (and ideas of writing styles for the sort of project you're accomplishing)

Myth #2: You can make meth from Vicks’ inhalers.
Myth #3: Meth is so easy to make, that we must hide information on the subject, so
high-school kids won’t make it.
Myth #4: Meth makes you paranoid.
Myth #5: Meth makes you violent.
Myth #6: You can smell “meth” on a person.
Myth #7: You can only smoke “freebase” meth.
Myth #8: Meth makes an excellent study aid.
Myth #9: Smoked meth will “recrystalize” in your lungs.
Chapter 5: Cocaine and crack
Myth #1: Cocaine can be smoked.
Myth #2: Crack and Freebase cocaine are different things.
Myth #3: Cocaine is physically addictive.
Myth #4: Using cocaine, even one time, can kill you.
Myth #5: Dead babies are used to smuggle coke into Miami.
Chapter 6: LSD
Myth #1: Some guy on acid stared into the sun until he went blind.
Myth #2: Some guy on acid cooked his children.
Myth #3: Some guy who dropped acid thinks he’s a glass of orange juice.
Myth #4: LSD is being distributed as rub-on tattoo transfers.
Myth #5: Strychinine is used to make acid stick to the blotter paper.
Myth #6: LSD is easy to make. You just take some rye bread, and...
Myth #7: You can extract LSD from Morning Glory seeds.
Myth #8: Milk, or Vitamin C, is the antidote for a bad trip.
Myth #9: LSD is stored in your body forever, and can be detected with a spinal tap,
except that’s illegal in this state.
Myth #10: If you take X hits of acid, you’re considered legally insane.
Myth #11: LSD dealers can be prosecuted for manslaughter.

Chapter #11: Pharmaceutical Goodies
Myth #1: I’ve purchased Quaaludes off the street.
Myth #2: “Scripting” is easy, and a good way to get drugs.
Myth #3: Rohypnol, the date-rape drug.
Myth #4: It’s in my grandma’s medicine chest, it must be good!
Chapter #12: Idiocy
Myth #1: Alcohol’s not a drug!
Myth #2: Nicotine isn’t a drug!
Myth #3: Eating a jar of nutmeg is a good way to get high.
Myth #4: Inhaling computer duster is a good way to get high.
Chapter #13: Your friend, the drug dealer
Myth #1: All drug dealers are honest.
Myth #2: Drug deals should take place in secluded, dark alleys.
Myth #3: Hooking up drugs in a club/rave is a good idea.
Myth #4: If you ask a drug dealer if he’s an undercover cop, he’ll have to answer
truthfully or it’ll be entrapment.
Myth #5: Drug dealers try to get children hooked.
Chapter #14: Raves
Myth #1: Raves are all about the drugs.
Myth #2: Raves are all about the music.
Myth #3: Sober people want lightshows and backrubs.
Myth #4: Blowing on a whistle is “cute”.
Myth #5: It’s easy to spot undercover cops at raves because...
Myth #6: The middle of the dancefloor! A good place for a 420 session/e-puddle!
Chapter #15: The drug war.
Myth #1: If drugs were legal, everyone would do them.
Myth #2: If drugs were legal, it would send a bad message to the children.
Myth #3: Drug legalization increases crime and drug use.
Myth #4: Drugs are illegal because they hate you!
Myth #5: There’s nothing you can do about the drug war.

hmmm....i dunno if i'd agree in full with that. cause i've certainly experienced paranoia, and i know plenty of other people who have been paranoid while on meth or from continuous usage. i'm not trying to say that "i'm right and you're wrong" here, cause i am SURE you are more informed than me (i might do it a lot, but i'm pretty ignorant of some things). i'm just saying--for me, i get paranoid while tweaking, and even after coming down sometimes. and shit...i've seen some of phreeX's meth-lab days posts about DEA agents and shooting rounds into trees or whatever. you telling me he wasn't paranoid!!??

I can't remember details on this one but some (know-it-all) guy told me something about how any method of ingesting meth (ie smoking, eating) will damage your veins because meth stays in your system for a long time and its acid will eat away at your teeth from the inside, WTF?!?
Also you can tell that its happening because you get little red spots on your skin around veins.
Not sure if this myth was just a local thing but I remember several ppl warning me off meth because of this (ha hah ha!!!) Anyone else know that one?

I think that you may be confused...If you mooch coke off of females, you will definitly NOT get a hummer. The idea is, mainly with strippers, that you give them the coke for free, and they in return give you the hummer. Or maybe I am confused. Anyway, good luck with that training. Time for bed.

You are leaving out an important drug and accompying myths (i think). What about GHB and all the bullshit/myths that come w/ that drug?
Example: GHB, the date-rape drug (you ONLY hear of it described that way via TV shows, reports and the NEWS). Whenever I see that I laugh. Come on, we all know what that is: alcohol...
Just thought I throw in my $0.02.....
