Write Me a Poem

Do you have any idea
How many
People
I’ve immortalized on
Paper?
How many words written
to a face
with a name
who managed to strike some
core
central region in me?
How many lines of rapture,
bliss,
ire,
fear
and yearning
I have banged out
In ode to someone
or other
who I felt enough for
to warrant alighting their persona
in a blaze of
written glory?
How many
eyes
I’ve described,
how many
loves
I’ve owned up to
or hatreds
I’ve manifested in written verse.
Countless.
Just once
I wish
someone
(specific)
would throw a pretty phrase
in my direction

This is great... although the premise of this poem is pretty simple, I love the way your line breaks make it read fresh. And the way you milk dramatic tension until the release at the end. It goes out with a bite.

Sometimes the hardest people to write about are the ones who matter to you the most.
