Would you say it's safe to take .5mg of Xanax while on 5mg of Suboxone?

I don't have a benzo tolerance and I almost never mixed pills. I'm not on a Suboxone maintenance either so the Suboxone isn't a daily thing. My thought is that combination is completely safe, what's your judgement?

What is your normal recreation dose of suboxone? Whatever it is, take less. You should be taking less anyway since you really don't get better effects from the drug with higher doses, and more side effects show up at these doses. Try 2mg of suboxone with the xanax if you are going to take the combo. You should be alright with that.

I've already taken the Suboxone about an hour ago. I was thinking about taking .5mg of Xanax to up the high but most people I've asked don't seem to think it's a good idea. What if I took .25 instead? I really didn't think .5 would be that bad but I don't have a tolerance.

Most doctors advise against combining benzos with suboxone. There have been reports of severe respiratory depression. Not having a benz tolerance I wouldn't recommend it.

Certainly not, GABAs + opiates are an extremely easy way to die.

Try 0.25mg to start. Ideally you should be on a lower dose of the suboxone too, though I guess the weird dose/response with the drug makes it kinda irrelevant.
