.....MDMA or ecstasy, generates the most hysteria. Like many illegal drugs, the popular press has done a very successful job confusing the public about its relative dangers. The fact is, there are many more alcohol and tobacco related deaths than there are people who die from taking the notorious party pill.
Have a look at the whole site including the section on Ecstasy:
http://www.abc.net.au/quantum/poison/default.htm

"Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cozy, doesn't try it on" - Billy Connolly

The "Whats your poison" series was excellent. Very informative with no bull-shit. I have vague memories of it being aired about 5 years ago and i'm sure they repeat it every now and again.
This is one big plus for non-commercially motivated TV

That was a really good site - no media sensationalism, and no bullshit!
I was impressed by the fact that in the 'experts opinion' sections, there were 2 people 'for' ecstasy, and only 1 person 'against'. This is compared to the usual 'every one of our experts say ecstasy is dangerous' attitude. Even the lady who was researching the neurotoxic effects (cant remember her name - damn drugs!) didnt spurt too much bullshit. She was quite openminded.
Thanks for that one haste!

There is harm in taking a drug, but the biggest harm today is societies constant effort to shape everyone into its perfect ideal.

nice find haste!
probably only get info like that from the ABC!

yeah the"whats your poison" series was excellent.Still have them on video!
havnt gone over the site that thorougly. But if its as good and informative as the t.v series.
i say you/we,all have a look and read!

yeah i watched that series too. Yes i would expect the abc to be less biased and more matter of fact than the commercial channels.

nah trust me you dont want to do that, seriously guys, spanking a munkE isn't half as fun as it sounds

yeah i remember the series and it's trippy music

The ABC and SBS have some great programs which don't have to appeal to mainstream Australia.
I cut and pasted the script and emailed it to mum with the subject heading 'just say know to drugs mum'

Why can't all news and current affairs shows be more like this. It just pisses me off when I read scripts and passages like this because it makes me realise how much BULLSHIT all the commercial stations spin about ecstasy, drug related deaths, etc.
And my parents wonder why I refuse to watch the news anymore...

I think of my life as a series of sketches; each one funnier than the last

I've only seen the site, not the show, and it was pretty fair.
Everyone bags out the media for making ecstasy look bad. Have you ever watched Today Tonight? It's hilarious! They're not only baggin out ecstasy, they bag out EVERYTHING. Today it was scooters for fucks sake, SCOOTERS!
It's nothing personal they just feel the need to bag out everything.
media hysteria shows double as comedys
