Opioids Would you describe this as Cotton Fever?

As far as the spoon, just clean it every time. I actually prefer to use a shot glass as the surface of a spoon can become pitted and porous over time. Glass does not have this issue. Also, you should be washing everything with soap and water, and swabbing with alcohol, between each shot. If you prepared subsequent shots in the same spoon without doing so, that would explain why you are still sick.

Edit: just read that you used the same cotton for several shots. That's filthy, and absolutely why you are sick.

MuVolution is right on with making sure you monitor your fever. I stupidly caught MRSA in the fall from being careless and overly desperate, and had I not gone to the hospital when I did, I most likely would have died (I waited three days with a fever, AND experiencing bouts of temporary paralysis in different parts of my body-horrible).
 
Swim doesnt know if he has the flu or cotton fever

Yesterday SWIM used cotton filter from a q-tip that were relatively old, like 2 months. SWIM had nothing else to use so he put a bunch of the cotton filters in water, drained them out, then took them out of the spoon and put a new fresh Q-tip cotton in the spoon. Where he lives there is a huge flu going around that everyone seems to be getting. However, after SWIM banged what was in the spoon. He did not feel anything yet until about an hour later when he was in class and it came on so quickly. SWIM has had cotton fever before but it never lasted longer than maybe the next day when he woke up. He has been feeling sick for the second night now. The absolute last thing SWIM wants to do is go into my universities clinic because he is afraid they will call his dad because he is on SWIMS emergency contact list and he checked the box which allows them to show his father medical information. Also he took a shot later in the day with fresh cotton and subutex. 30 minutes later he felt the chills again... he is very confused so any advice you could give him would be great.

First advice is not to use SWIM. We don't do that here so please read the BLUA. Edit that out of your post please.

This can happen from using dirty equipment (spoons, etc) and especially from pounding out old cottons. It's important to have as sterile and clean an environment as possible when injecting to avoid any complications.
 
Y'all should change the swim community spoon more often and don't describe anybody who isn't you as swim. Seriously, if the worst that happens and you're dad finds out its still better then contracting some blood borne pathogen and losing life or limb.

You just use "I", man. We all know it's you anyway and using something like SWIM doesn't actually give you any legal protection anyway. So just be honest about whoever you are talking about.

pretty sure I also just got cotton fever, came on 20 minutes after I iv'd some d, bad tremors, stomach cramps, teeth chattering, unusally cold even with the space heater right on me. hope it goes away in a few hours, i have shit to do tonight. ugh
