You know, like in The Matrix. Would you rather suffer through this black abyss called life, or have a perfectly lovely time in a drug-induced coma?

Whilst in the coma, your every hope, dream, and desire would manifest at all hours. There would never be any pain, suffering, or despair. Your "coma life" would consist of beautiful music, outrageous sex, and all the chocolate you can eat...or anything else you desired.

Which would you pick? Be honest.

Well, in The Matrix they say that the original matrix was constructed along the lines of what you describe: paradise. No crime, everyone's happy, etc. But the program failed because humans could not live and thrive without conflict. So they re-programmed it to be a more abysmal world.

If you look at Hindu and Buddhist philosophy which was what that movie was based on, they say that suffering is the major vehicle for enlightenment. You can't learn, grow, or challenge your understanding of existence without first being pushed to do so through difficult circumstances.

There are rich people in this world who have everything they could possibly want 24 hours a day. A lot of them are the most miserable fucks you will ever have the misfortune of meeting. Sometimes the worst thing you can do to a person is give them everything they want.

I would choose real life.... if I had to resort to a drug induced coma just to feel happy then I would probably kill myself first.

Yup, and in the trilogy it was already the 6th version of The Matrix.

Life and happiness cant be perfected, so I take real life. Im a huge daydreamer and play out a lot of "what if" scenarios in my head, but Im a complete realist and I think my daydreams help reinforce the fact that Im a logical and realistic person.

Agreed. Real life.

Real life - Happiness holds no value if you have nothing to compare it to.

It's a bit like health - you only begin to appreciate it once you've been extremely unwell. In much the same way I feel that to appreciate happiness you first need to know what it feels like to be unhappy.

if it works like the matrix, and nobody fucks up my shit then ill take the coma. Hell who gives a shit if its
real life. I wont know the difference unless im offered the red or blue pill, and in that case id pass on both because
im already in my drug coma so fuck the red&blues.

i gotta go with the coma. as long as im not an undue burden on anyone, im fine.

I was in hospital a few years ago, and have what I thought were wonderful "memories." It wasn't until afterwards that I was told those "memories" never happened...that in fact, I'd been in a coma for three days. But I swear to you, it was so real! To this day, I can recall the sounds, colors, tastes...and it was wonderful.

Obviously, I'm voting for coma.

I have to go with the coma. I have already been through enough suffering that I would easily have something to compare my perma-euphoric state to, and I would be grateful for it every day I spent getting fucked up and having sex without consequences in my dream world.
