would you be able to control your drug use if drugs were legal?

I tend to think I would actually do it less, because I completely agree with the schedule theory. If someone calls me and tells me they have shrooms(or similar drug) or even some really great weed I hop on board. But then again if it was that easy to get...I don't know

I think in the past I would have had big problems as I used to have no fear of drugs, if some of the more addictive drugs were cheap and easy to find. But I have already started to focus mainly on psychedelics, which are not addictive anyway, so those and weed shouldn't be a problem. I wish LSD was legalized, since it's never around anymore!

It is hard to say what would happen if drugs were legal because the whole culture would change. Without culture change, all you have is that the drug purity will go up and the prices will go down. Those effects are short-term, because drug users will become adjusted to the better deal and soon expect it and take it for granted. So, the real question is: what effect legalization will have on the going-out scene?

Will morphine be available everywhere alcohol is today? Or maybe it will all be segregated. there will be some hashish clubs, some 'shroom joints, and other old-skool alcohol bars... or maybe you need to go see your doctor to get morphine, but you can buy weed at the grocery store.

It all depends... "legalization" is too broad of a term. what does this mean? how is it gonna be done? unless explained, further discussion on "the effects of legalization" is futile.

I'm a big advocate for legalization of all drugs, but the thought just occured to me...

if frigin oxycontin was legal, i think i would be eating the things like skittles every day. I have absolutly no self-control. The only way i stay clean is because the avaliabilty of drugs at my school is horribly bad.

This is a big argument for the continued crimalization of drugs, do you think its a good one? Would you go crazy if you could get a bottle of oxycontin for 5 dollars sitting right next to the asprin in the OTC pain aisle?

without a doubt i could control myself, i have been in situation before where i had pretty much as many drugs as i could do as my disposal, and man did i enjoy that at times. but i got too much i want to do with my life to be happy washing it away with drug use all the time. im a daily weight lifter (so i love my health/body), i go to a top 5 university, i work 20 hours a week, and i got ambitions for the future.

drugs are great, but there is a LITTLE more to life

Why would I have to control my drug use if it was legal...?

Fuck i'd be smoking heroin based cigarettes on my way to the 7-11 to pick up a couple paks of Afgani brown sugar and Asian white (shit what am I talking about America would come out with something superior) and procede to get smacked outta my head ...

or something like that

this would help decrease our population. everyone od'ing.

i think legalizing cannabis and lsd (and for that matter all other psychedelics) would not have a great impact, except maybe an initial rise in consumption due to media hype.. . but these two drugs are pretty much self-regulating... the former because it really is not that interesting and in any case does not do significant damage even to most heavy users, the latter because most people begin to control and limit their use after bad experiences

as far as opiates are concerned, the purity argument (black market provides mostly overprices, dirty crap opiates that ruin one's health and bank account) certainly has something to it, but i know that i would probably unable to control myself if i had unlimited access to opiates...which in turn would not be that much of a problem if they are clean and affordable

as far as coke, meth etc. are concerned, i can't really judge...

but i am not sure if it can get any worse than the black market situation is now...

Someone mentioned that if drugs were legalized, those with drug use tendencies are more likely to run out and get addicted. As if they might not anyway? Just because it is easier to pick up a habit doesn't mean someone has any more reason to.

And if it's legal and someone has a problem that is out of control, sure they might turn to heroin if it's legal. They might turn to heroin if it's not. The point is that honest education about the real effects and uses of these drugs is the only way people will learn to make good decisions about drugs and the direction they want to take their lives with them. Or even at least if people could know what they're dealing with...

drug acceptability

Like this will ever happen... Maybe Pot will get legalized in the next 20 years or so.. maybe, but it's about the only one..

shit, even if it isn't legalized, it's important to figure out whether YOU think it SHOULD be legalized. If you realize you gonna be a strung-out junkie if it's legal, maybe you would change your vote in elections, or maybe even think about quitting now.

I think I could control myself 'cause I currently have access to everything I want pretty much. But, it would be hella cool if I could go to the bar and smoke some hashish and opium with my foamy stout. Or, order up some acid & ecstacy-laced fruit juice at the club.

I don't care if it was legal as much as I wish it was acceptable among the dominant population to be using. I'm sick of everyone (even users) fucking with me when they find out I'm a user 'cause they don't know shit about drugs. Or not being able to put on my resume I used to deal 'cause I learned a hella lot about marketing and sales... I'm just sick of hiding and being paranoid 'cause it's not evil, just illegal. yeah, man, hit it.

I'm safe with all of my drug use, the only problem would be with coke. I havn't touched it in a while and for great reasons (not the being broke part, but the addiction part). I do enjoy the other drugs I use, but if I could get coke for $50 a kilo, damn, I'm affraid to even think of what my usage would be! There goes Harm Reduction down the drain!
