I have been going to college for 2 years now, and recently I started Xanax it is amazing even though I do get some light black outs. I decreased my dosage, but I notice my school work is slipping. Even when I study, things are not sticking. Is it the Xanax or maybe Im just burn out?

Stop taking the Xanax. If you are scripted it at low dosage for something along the lines of anxiety, go ahead, but it is not going to help your memory. This is especially true if you are taking large doses ""recreationally" (I've never found benzos to be recreational, but to each his own). If you are experiencing black outs you should really cut back/abstain before you get yourself in serious trouble.

LOL is this guy serious? You're getting blackouts from xanax and wondering if xanax might be affecting your memory?

Xanax is not gonna magically make your grades shitty. It's not a drug that suddenly makes you stupid if you eat it, though it can certainly help you stop giving a fuck if you let it.

Could I have some more details? What sort of doses are you taking? Why are you taking it in the first place? If you're having black-outs, you're definitely taking more than you should be recreationally, and a shitload more than would be needed medically.

look into retrograde amnesia.

if you've been studying and gaining/storing information while studying and blacking while using larger doses you're more likely to lose access to what has been stored.

benzos over long term aren't efficient in terms of learning and storing information.

Alprazolam will most certainly have negative side effects especially if your exceeding the "maximum dose" of 4 milligrams a day. They tend to be very habit forming and alot of people I know keep poppin them throughout the day. I used to buy and sell them for a nice profit and I remember being pissed off and ending up eating 50 1mg footballs within 3 or 4 days! Blackouts, suicidal thoughts and a whole lot more. Wha dosage do you take each day? Also do u drink grapefruit juice?

I lost a month or 2 of my life due to xanax kpins valium and lorazapam. So yes. It is the Xanax

I'm totally with ya on that one man! I lost about a year taking basically every benzodiazepine on the market! And if your a drinker that sure puts your ass down! I lost 2 good jobs because of that stuff.

Xanax is good for anxiety. I would get anxiety while studying and take 0.25mg and it calmed me down to focus.

I think the OP is trolling, but if not, yes. You can be assured that memory loss and black outs from xanax will effect your school work.

Yes, Xanax (alprazolam), like all other benzodiazepines, can cause memory loss. However, there are hundreds, probably thousands of other factors to consider in regards to your grades. I doubt that Xanax is the only thing to blame.

I'm going to close this thread - its an open and shut question. OP, PM me if you have any concerns.
