Im always looking for better ways for mdma use and I have good idea to get the most out of mdma, That said, wuld taking a moa, a or b inhibitor help with serotonin. If you look at this video , the narrator mentions moa, I have no idea, im wondering if anyone knows

here's the video where it says some of the serotonin gets broken down by mao (please excuse me for not writing that out), at about two minutes in, and wondering if a person took a moa inhibitor , would it be beneficial

Taking a MAO inhibitor with MDMA is potentially fatal as it can cause Serotonin Syndrome. MAO-A is the enzyme responsible for the breakdown of Serotonin in the brain, as you've mentioned. By inhibiting MAO-A while on MDMA you're basically preventing the body from breaking down the excess Serotonin that's being released which leads to Serotonin Syndrome.

With that said, taking a MAO-B inhibitor seems to be safe and has been shown to protect the brain from neurotoxicity in lab conditions. Personally, i'd advise against taking MAOIs with amphetamines due to potentially dangerous levels of potentiation which can lead to dangerous increases in BP and body temperature. If you do decide to do it use only selective MAO-B inhibitors(Selegiline in a single dose of less than 5mg, or preferably the newer and more selective Rasagiline are good examples), take half your usual dose of MDMA and work up from there as needed. Also expect to have a speedier roll.

Good luck and stay safe :)

I'll add my voice to the chorus saying that this is a bad idea.
MAOI is something I've used with psychedelics - though even there there's some risk - but there's serious health risks to combining it with MDMA or any other seratonin boosting drug.
While Selegaline is primarily an MAO-B inhibitor in large or ongoing doses it can inhibit MAO-A too. I'd stay off any MAOI while on MDMA

If you want a safe way to potentiate MDMA look into piracetam. I personally haven't tried it but it's pretty much accepted as a potentiator of both MDMA and serotonergic psychedelics.

I wouldn't call piracetam "safe" by any means. It has some rather odd interactions with a lot of things, MDMA included. Every time I've mixed MDMA and piracetam, it is true that I rolled harder, but I also experienced increased side effects that would suggest serotonin toxicity so I would be careful with it and 2C-I and piracetam was one of the scariest experiences in my life.

I'm closing this thread. Its already been said. MAOIs and MDMA are asking for trouble.
