Im at the 2 week mark of taking my generic IR Adderall(as prescribed), and have learned to combat most of the minor side effects with just staying hydrated. Now, however, I have the WORST headache thats making my left eye feel like its going to pop! I usually take a b-complex, magnesium, omega complex, and iron daily as my doctor recommended. I forgot to take those vitamins yesterday if that has any affect. Please let me know how to stop this pain, i can't see the doc for another week :/

Did you try ibuprofen? It's the primary non-narcotic that I use to treat aches/pains associated with amphetamine use.

Advil is a great anti inflammatory. I would also try Benadryl with it. It will block histamine and could relieve some swelling and discomfort too. Also try laying down with your head on a pillow at a 30* angel. Low lights and relax. Maybe a hot showed too. It will dilate blood vessels and reduce blood pressure for a short time. Watch out for dizziness. Then lay down and relax. I hope this helps.

I advise to stop using the drug daily iat such a dose f it is giving you a headache. Consider it your body telling you that it cannot quite handle what you are giving it.

^ very good advice as well.

It could also be related to not eating and drinking. You body could need a break. Good call Moose<3

Dexoid,
I am in no way suggesting you take drugs that are not prescribed for you. Just wanted to share my experience because the same thing happened to me early on after I first started taking Ritalin years ago...I'm sure it isn't a good solution for everybody, and my doctor did not do this until other methods failed.
I was prescribed a VERY low dose of benzodiazapine, to be taken at the first sign of headache ( I would get lots of neck stiffness as well).
After doing this for about 2 months, I was taken off of the benzo and the headaches were MUCH less frequent. I'm not sure how this solved things but it's what worked for me. Again, not sure it's right for you and what other people have said about trying an NSAID should be the first step. good luck! :)

Adderall my not be the right drug for you especially if you have a high blood pressure or heart rate. If you do decide however to pursue the treatment, you need:

- 500mg magnesium daily (check vitamins, if it's supplements like Phytobec, those only contain 25mg which was shown to be insufficient for amphetamine use.)
- blood sugar, make sure glycemy is ok.
- hydration, drink a lot of water even if you don't feel like it while on the medication.

Painkiller:

Acetaminophen with caffeine and codeine is your best friend if you decide to fight the migraines "heads on". Combinations of 90mg codeine and 600mg of Tylenol single dose have shown to relieve pain in some cases as efficiently as 15mg morphine.

In my case, I used to have migraines with my add medication that didn't go away until I supplemented more magnesium. I was in a high magnesium deficit because ever since I increased the magnesium dose to 500mg daily, the migraines went away permanently.

Magnesium has such a strong influence that, when I isolated pure acetaminophen (separating it from the magnesium stearate binder agent), the pain relieving effect was decreased. My brain was so magnesium hungry that it even used the magnesium from the binding agent of the pill to relieve the deficit, which had a better pain relieving effect that acetaminophen itself!

Unfortunately the most widely available amphetamine here in NYC that isn't absurdly overcharged is Adderall, so it's the one I use primarily (oh, and they're the IR ones as well). I've yet to try Chelated Magnesium but definitely want to get some. I find that water and Ibuprofen works the best for the headaches (which are pretty infrequent for me, though I'm on methadone maintenance as well). I've always found that benzo's help out a lot with headaches, but that's just risking another addiction.

have you been keeping an eye on your bp?
adderall is the only rx amph. that i had this symptom
with..
it would almost double my bp & heart rate..
i found the headaches from that counter productive :\
