*gasp* Leo was terrible in R+J. He sounded exactly as I did when I performed it in 5th grade. In fact, he sounded like he was reading the lines for the first time as he over-emphasized iambs.
I actually didn't think Titanic was that bad for his career in terms of showing his acting ability though I wasn't too impressed. I'm still shocked anyone thought his R+J performance with noteworthy.

it seems lots of people mistake good looks for good acting.
"it seems lots of people mistake good looks for good acting."
. . . and more still who mistake Leonardo's looks for good looks.![]()

Please don't tell me you include Buffy the Vampire Slayer on that list. And if you do - you are crazy and a twit.

Hayden Christianson (or however you spell his name) is a horrible actor. He completely ruined Episode II.
Maybe George Lucas is starting to get senile...he obviously can't cast a good actor for a major role anymore.
I'm with you 100% on that one. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I've seen better performances in porn--at least in porn there is SOME passion!

haha, i know plenty of dorks that watch this show because they are hot for either buffy or willow, but none of them would try to perpatrate a fraud by saying it had any good acting.
i man, get real - the show's whole appeal is that it's campy (well, maybe they're such great actors that they can play parts that suck so bad and convince me).

Have you seen much else of what she's done?
'Even cowgirls get the blues' was great & she was great in it IMO.
'Tape' is a film she did with her husband, Ethan Hake, it has three characters in one room meeting up after 10 years fucking with each others heads, well kind of....anyway, check out some of her not-so-mainstream work before you judge her on such a light & fluffy movie.
Actor I hate: Brendon Fraser, he is just gross, I bet he's a complete dick IRL. I have no specific reason why I hate him, but then I dont need to do I?
I'll jump on the 'Keanu Reeves is hopeless' bandwagon, yeah he's done some shocking work, like 'Dracula' man his English accent in that was SOO bad! He has done some good stuff, like 'My own private Idaho' but still , same stiffness, same droning, flat voice. The Matrix was awesome, but luckily the role didn't call for a whole lot of personality on his part.
Nicolas Cage, I DID love him 'Wild at heart', 'Raising arizona' etc but yeah now he's doing these roles where he wispers everything, it's disturbing & i dont understand his reasoning behind accepting such shit, he MUST get offered some of the best roles around. Nic was cool, now is a bit of a loser, bummer.

Ya know, I think it has more to do with Lucas's lack of direction than the actors themselves. The problem with the new episodes is that Lucas insisted on doing all of the directing as well as the editing. Natalie Portman is a fantastic actress, but not having ever seen a Star Wars film until landing the part of Amidala in Episode 1, she was definitely going to need more direction. Ewan Mcgregor is a great actor too, but had a leg up due to the fact that he could study Alec Guinness's mannerisms in the first three films. Let's just say I was disappointed in Lucas too. He spread himself too thin with all he was trying to do with these films. Sure, they're pretty, but they're lacking.![]()
You know, Stase, that article has some good points, but I don't think everything can be blamed on Lucas. Natalie Portman is a good actress as well Ewan Mcgregor and a few others, but Hayden's performance stunk up the entire movie. Anakin is supposed to be a brash and arrogant individual, not a whiney bitch-boy. Not to mention on-screen chemistry between Portman and Christiensen totaled ZERO.
The original trilogy may not have been a shining example for great acting, but at least the characters had chemistry between one another. Unfortunately, it's not like they can fire Christiensen for the next film, but hopefully most of it will be with him as Darth Vader and James Earl Jones doing the voice...then we won't have to hear his terrible delivery.
BTW, LL, Adam Sandler was in Dumb and Dumber?

I disagree with the Leo haters. Has ANYONE seen This Boy's Life? It was excellent, and Leo starred in it (on a side note a good book as well).
I'm w/ ya there. He does a fine job and that's a great flick for sure. One of my fave DeNero(sp?) flicks.
