worse drug you ever took?

I’ve never tried them but seeing what they do to people I’ve always thought I would like them. Just knock you out and make you unconscious or a zombie? That’s right up my alley

Oh yes - I've played with antipsychoatic medications and they were almost uniformly awful. I've heared that Quietipine is abused for it's hypnotic properties but it's my opinion that it produces that black dreamless sleep that isn't restful. I read convicts in the US like it because they can 'sleep through their sentence' but the stuff produces serious irreversible side-effects so it's ONLY in populations who are prepared to take that risk that it's popular.

A large UK study showed a strong association between regular cannabis use and mental illness. Now it's my opinion that what we see is people self-medicating. But on a per-user basis, cannabis was shown to affect mental health more than any other drug. We don't get much methamphetamine in the UK so maybe it's under-represented but we get a lot of cocaine, MDMA, ketamine and various hallucenogens. But it was cannabis that showed the strongest association.

My theory is that until the 90s we got hash and maybe what was represented as Thai but was likely Mexican. Both of those forms contain quite a lot of CBD which is an antipsychotic.

But not this new skunk stuff. When that replaced the other stuff, that's when the association became much stronger.

I don't use it because I can't be bothered. It seems like a way to waste time. But that's just me.

I think it is self medicating with Cannabis as opposed to the cannabis causing psychosis.

Some antipsychotics when mied with opiates greatly increase their effects. Thorazine and compazine really increased the nod i got from morphine. I took 100mg of thorazine on top of 120mg's of morphine and i was nodding the whole way home from the pharmacy lol

Opioids are known to act as antipsychotics. In fact there IS an association between heroin use and mental illness.

I did say association and that it was quite likely to be self-medication in many cases. But I don't think it's possible to infer that it's all cases. Going back thousands of years Indian and Arabic doctors noted a psychosis specific to people who consumed large amounts of cannabis. They noted that when the patient abstained from using cannabis, the psychosis disappeared. So in those cases, it does sound like the drug was one of the causes - and I presume they were referring to strains of cannabis that contained active amounts of CBD.

Phenylethylamine ( wich is in chocolate) straight out of the Aztec empire and fruit of the cacao tree...technically food of the gods ... but to me food of the blob.

It's supposed to be inactive at any normal dose but I presume if one consumes enough, it's going to deplete MAOs and thus increase levels of extracellular monoamines.

What do they feel like? What makes them unpleasant?
i was on a dose of quetiapine mixed with something else taken before bed and it would make me really anxious and then knock me out and it was a very unpleasant sleep.. i'd think the anxiety feeling might've just been because of my own thoughts on the pill, but i've taken risperdal and that kind of took away my anxiety. i didn't want to be taking it, but it didn't bother me.

zyprexa i also had to take before bed and it would give me restless legs about two hours after taking it. like i'd fall asleep for a couple hours, wake up with restless legs and then be awake for a few more hours feeling kind of stimulated and restless.

all anti-psychotic drugs seem to give different people different side effects... they usually just prescribe pills and combinations till one works with out causing too many side effects.. it's kind of a miserable process for some people to go through getting put on anti-psychotics. usually they make people tired suffering from anhedonia like stuff. sometimes they make people dizzy or restless. all sorts of stuff happens really.

although i got some hallucinations from it, dramamine is one of the shittiest feeling drugs.. dxm kind of feels good at times despite the fact sometimes nausea hits. dramamine just feels like having nerve damage and maybe itchy if i remember.. if a teen wants to trip, i'd just recommend waiting to find some shrooms... the visuals for a dramamine trip really only lasted a few minutes and then the rest of the night is just left with this shitty dying feeling... i'd probably even robotrip over dramamine, but i also don't recommend that either... like if you want to know what shitty feeling feels like, maybe take these drugs. but it's bad for the health imo. i wouldn't

some anti-psychotic experiences actually feel worse, but as far as getting high recreationally dramamine is pretty shit... a different type of med, but i took trazadone to see how it worked one time and was too high of a dose. felt really miserable for me.

Opiates where given to people with psychosis before the invention of barbiturates and antipsychotics. Instead of being shot up with haldol or invega or ativan like today youd et a shot of morphine instead lol.

OMFG when i was 12 i took 25 drmamine pills and it was a horror shoe. I have suffered from temporary psychosis once in my life and it felt exactly like being on dramamine. Fuck that shit right off

yeah. i took 20 dramamine at 14... i thought it was just gonna make me see stuff. i didn't get drugs were disorienting.. i had to feed my neighbors dog while they were on vacation. my father called me in my room to remind me. i went downstairs, was looking for my shoes in the kitchen cabinet. he asked me what i was doing, and i totally went crazy. my friend was over. i was trying to just tell them we drank alcohol cause i figured i'd be in less trouble. they asked me my friend "ryan's" parents phone number that was tripping too and i was like "how the hell am i supposed to know conan obrien's phone number." and i thought they were throwing piles of phone books at me or something... like this might sound kind of cool for a younger reader, but it feels like absolute shit, and the tripping part of the drug really only lasts a few minutes then the rest of the night sucks... at least with dxm it lasts a few hours for me. i feel some kind of pleasant afterglow the day after dxm too, like subtly. at the least it's not bad.. with dramamine, it's just a shit feeling the night of it and next day.

honestly talking about the amount of dramamine that people usually take, i don't know if there are different mg's of pills, but when i did 20 dramamine at 14, i didn't really get much more visuals than when i did a 12 pack a bunch of times when i was like 17/18... i think there's a threshold point that causes tripping and then it's just kind of negative side effects with the more people take... i totally would just skip dramamine, but if a person has to try it, i know OTC use is all over reddit, you don't always need to use a ton... idk... 20-25 dramamine or whatever for a young teen is some pretty crazy shit... my heart rate was really high. my parents had me on the phone with some safety line while checking my pulse deciding whether to call an ambulance. that probably made my heart rate way higher, but it does raise the heart rate. i think it's more stimulating than benadryl. i've only taken like 6 benadryl at a time and smoked some weed. i decided i didn't care to try more to compare to dramamine. would've been cool to write about and have an opinion, but i wasn't into experimenting and definitely am not now after getting hit by a car and getting nerve damage.

I'm aware that oipum-derivatives and morphine were used to 'quiet the minds' of people suffering a psychosis but legal control has prevented proper investigation.

It is a shame because I have noted that an unexpectely large number of people who use opioids are subject to the condition. Again, is it simply self-medication?

Only use them acutely as tools to stop things like amphetamine psychosis or some kind of bad trip or mania

They are toxic drugs and that is reflected by their poor side effect profiles. With regular use they will build up in brain tissue and will still be present there after the drug is eliminated from plasma. And atypical ones are linked to obesity, diabetes, and related metabolic issues.

One time I took 10mg oral haloperidol and lost all control over my jaw muscles. They were spasming and moving from side to side and there was nothing in the house that would have stopped it.

Sounds awful; I wasn’t aware of all the spasms and other nasty effects.

So much hate for DXM in this thread ☹️

It’s one of the most amazing drugs that exists imo. It’s got its rough edges but some of the most complex altered states I’ve ever experienced were on it….also some of the most organic euphoria

I'm actually with you on this one, I love the shit out of dxm. As another user on here put it (was it you lol?) "On dxm I feel like a schizophrenic who won the lottery." 🤣 👍

It's one of those no middle ground drugs for sure, most people either love it or hate it. But some of the most vivid OEV's, CEV's, some of the most ecstatic waves of emotion, inner journeys, it's a hell of a drug, for sure.

THAT SAID - my worst drug experience was actually a combo of dxm and propylhexedrine. Also a small amount of alcohol. Yes, I was young. Extremely bad physiological reaction, probably should have went to the hospital or called an ambulance but just rode it out. Mucho vomiting, seizing and cranial pain. Yeah, do not recommend lol.
