Benzos Worried about withdrawl...2 week binge!

I had a 2 year history with clonazepam taking anywhere from 4-6mg a day. I did a 2 month taper and successfully squashed that addiction. This was about 8 months ago.

Well, recently I had quite a binge which lasted 2 weeks or so. I was taking 2 benzos, alprazolam and temazepam.

Within this 2 week+ period I was taking 2-5mg of alprazolam as well as between 60-120mg of temazepam per day. The doses varied depending on the day.

I started adding in the temazepam about a week into the binge. My question to you all is, do you think there will be a severe withdrawl from this or am I just getting too worried?

My remaining stash consists of 9mg of alprazolam and 150mg of temazepam. Any help would be appreciated as to what I should expect and/or do.

Please help me Bluelight!

Well, see how u feel after x hours of not taking a benzo. What symptoms are u feeling? Dont wait until u get a gran mal siezure, but see whether u get some kind of physical w/d, if at all. Then, if so, can u taper urself, or no willpower?

It has been about 12 hours so far and I'm only feeling a bit lethargic. I am trying to hold off for as long as I can to see if I acquire any other symptoms. I have the ability to taper as I have done it before and was quite successful. However, I am currently in a somewhat depressed state of mind and it is quite tempting to want more than I should take.

Keep in touch with your body and listen to it. I myself am prescribed Klonopin (3mg/day) and usually exactly at 12:00AM every day my body wakes me up for a 1MG dose, and at 12:00PM the same thing happens. When you do something long enough, it trains your body to expect the substance to enter your body at that time point, otherwise, rebound symptoms can occur.

As far as withdrawals...that's some serious benzo dabbling. Enough where it can cause significant withdrawals. If you were taking 1/4th of what you were taking, I think you might be alright, but if I were you I'd go see a doc if you can't get a hold of more to hold you over or you can't control yourself for a prescribed taper regimen.

Were these benzos prescribed to you, or did you just buy them? You've already tapered before (so have I, and I know it's a battle) so I know that you have experience with it. It shouldn't be as significant as what you mentioned (Clonazepam for 2 years..) but you should still definitely expect some kind of withdrawal.

The temazepam are prescribed. I was getting the alprazolam from another source. I know exactly what you mean about knowing the way your body reacts and when you feel the need to take them. I am picking up some clonazepam tomorrow and letting my girl hold them so I can successfully taper. Benzo withdrawl is the scariest thing I have ever endured. I am just terrified at the moment and needed somewhere to get some advice. Thanks to those who responded so far...

I'd be concerned over the possibility of seizures. I think that since you've abused them in the past, that your receptors would quickly readjust to being saturated with benzodiazepines, effectively shortening the time span of use required to induce withdrawl and its symptoms upon cessation.

IMO you really should execute a proper taper to avoid any danger of seizures, especially considering the quantities of alprazolam and temazepam you've been taking.

Yes, I have had a seizure in the past and would like to avoid that at all costs. I now understand why I should have never started with benzos again. Thanks for the advice guys. I am going to taper using clonazepam starting the day after tomorrow. I will be dosing the last of my alprazolam and saving the temazepam for emergency backup. If anyone has anymore advice, feel free to let me know.

taper? taper. taper. taper. taper. taper.
do not take benzos daily. alprazolam and temazepam is a fun combination, i have to admit, but fuck man, you already know how utterly shitty benzo addiction/depence is. i know we all do stupid things, i'm not judging you or anything but why not reserve them for some special occasion? i mean if you're using benzos recreationally at least limit it to twice a week, and one dose per. this way your tolerance won't get sky high, you won't develop a physical dependency. i mean i've done similar things, but benzos so very quickly aren't fun anymore. three days in a row and i feel next to nothing that could be considered recreational unless i up the dosage to insane and irresponsible levels. benzos are very good for one specific purpose, for people like me who have a strong anxiety disorder, but daily intake = physical dependence.

I know exactly what you mean. I was doing as you said taking them every so often but got out of control quick because of massive supply. I swore I'd never let it happen again but look at me now. Starting the taper tomorrow so we will see how it goes. Good post btw!
