Soo I was suggested by Black Rabbit of Inlè to open this thread here.

Basically I was taking amphetamines very regularly, especially when my period would start because not only would it completely stop the pain, but it would also pretty much stop my period from happening all together and I totally loved that so I kept trying to prevent it for over a year.

I have now been clean from amphetamines for two months (officially two months as of today :D ) and have had my period three times in two months, averaging two to three weeks apart, coupled with very heavy bleeding.

Now this would seem to me like my body just trying to catch up on what it's missed but... Just wondering if anyone else has / is experiencing this?

Are you on birth control?

I'm on birth control and I have never had issues like that, even with heavy amphetamine usage.

Periods suck (I hate them, I think everyone/most people do) but it is important to keep having them. Don't try to skip them :)

I would go see a doctor as you may have something entirely unrelated going on.

Congratulations on the two months!:D

My period stopped completely for more than a year when I was abusing oxycodone and lost a bunch of weight. Then my doctor started to wean me down and my cycle became regular again. Glad to hear you're getting back to normal.

My period stopped for 8 months when I was on a ton of opiates. When it came back it was like the floodgates of hell opened...it was heavy and long. That lasted for six or seven months. Then I had one normal period and got pregnant on that cycle.

So I would say that what you are experiencing is pretty normal, except you mentioned that you took the drugs to help with the pain...if you had really painful periods to begin with, it might be worth it to get it checked out.

I take stims regularly, but I've mooned without a hitch throughout the time I've taken them.

I don't use any birth control.

I take daily vits - a timed release multi, high dose C, timed release B complex, b12 (I'm a veggie of 25 yrs), zinc, calcium and a hair/skin/nails collagen based one to compensate for a shitty diet. None of them would be necessary really if I worked on a normal, healthy balanced diet tbh.

I'd definitely take a decent daily multi-vit if you are, or have been, a regular stim user tho.

I would go see a doctor as you may have something entirely unrelated going on.

Congratulations on the two months!:D

^ This. Get your bloods done in the very least, to check for anything youre lacking in essential vitamins and minerals.

im using [opiates] at the moment and i havent had my period since march,.....i relapsed almoat 2 years ago [something like that] happy to know im not alone . drugs really fuck you up inside :(

Aha Marmalade I love stims and I'm veg too :) ... taking supplements is helpful for the times I don't eat properly haha.

I would recommend to go see the doctor though.
Every female is different when it comes to their periods. Some females have it on time every month (regardless of taking birth control or not) and others are quite varied... sometimes it's three weeks apart, sometimes six weeks apart. Some females have periods that last exactly six days each time. Others vary, four days sometimes, eight days other times.

Yes of course drugs can effect things like this however I think you'd have to be a REALLY heavy user for it to effect it. Amphetamines don't usually stop periods and they shouldn't... but heavy usage, that can do weird things to you.

This makes pretty interesting reading: http://www.bluelight.org/vb/threads/52838-Amphetamines-and-the-Menstrual-Cycle

I have bouts of incredibly painful periods, but still regular frequency, though I've yet to figure out which drugs are causing that, or if it's just a getting-older-thing. It might be amphetamines, but am not a heavy user so would be surprised. The only one that has definitely had an effect was methylphenidate, within an hour of taking, made me start my period immediately when it wasn't due. I presumed due to some sort of effect on hormone levels.. dunno.

Thanks heaps for that link, that was great :)

Congratulations on the two months!

Thank you :3 <3

I hope you are doing ok *hugs* Yeah, misuse and abuse of anything will always backlash on you unfortunately, good lessons there though :)
